My *guess* would be some sort of tightly packed, clear cut subdivision on this land (a la Rivergrove). It looks like they are at least keeping a buffer with the current plans.

Tightly packed could mean patio homes which I think would be great .

I don't know how long the majority of you have lived in Kings River Village, but this property was part of a lawsuit which was ongoing for years. We joined with our neighbors in Atascocita after the sale of the land to Joe Stunja from Club Corp- owners of Kingwood Country Club and Deerwood Country Club. Long story short is that when Kings River was built Friendswood set aside the land in question as part of a future golf course. Some lots were actually sold as golf course lots. We wanted our subdivision restrictions to be upheld and for this land to be held as golf course property only. As time went on, we tried to offer many alternate suggestions for development. No compromise was ever reached, and the case went to a jury. We lost and went on to file an appeal. We lost at the appellate level also. So, the land is now zoned commercial. While the lawsuit was ongoing, the case was discussed monthly at the HOA meetings and quarterly at the Trails meeting. We published updates on the websites and did everything in our power to advise the residents of KR Village of what was happening. We even put flyers on doors at one point hoping to get some response from homeowners. Just a few responded.

I just posted this as the last response. You're right.

I agree with a couple other people regarding the traffic. The location is small, but before we get to that they should do something about the traffic.

Looks like there is plenty of space for other things to come over there. About 45 total acres. I believe this was for the "4th" nine hole course for the golf club. It was slated for a full two 18 hole courses before it declined in the late 80's and 90s.

@ParksideRes

When you are saying 45 total acres , from Lake Houston Pkwy headed down Kings Pkwy to Pinehurst Trail are you saying that total parcel on my right is 45 acres ? Just looking at it, it appears to be more than that . Are did you mean after the movie theater goes in & the restaurant there is still 45 acres left to develop ?

Just an approximate. There is about 30 acres or so that extent up the Pinehurst Trail and Texas Laurel and north or Pinehurst Trail extending to the Overlook. Probably 95 total acres owned by Pinehurst Trails LLC. It can be looked up on HCAD.

This is a residential area and no place for a movie theater! Not to mention the traffic is bad enough in this area with no plans to widen Kings Parkway to 4 lanes. Two turn ins off W Lake Houston Pkwy only 3 blocks past a stop light on Firesign. Idiots continue to ask why places are flooding in areas around Harris County that has never flooded before and now they are! It is because we continue to cut down the trees, pour concrete, and drive away the wildlife that have no other places to go. We feed 9 bucks and 2 does nightly behind our house where this complex is going in and this two story eyesore and traffic congestion can be relocated to a commercial section of the Atascocita. When this house was purchased, this was to be part of a golf coarse and green belt. Big business is ruining that way of life for many! I guess we need to take down the sign "Kingwood the Living Forest" and call it "Kingwood Destruction of the Living Forest"

Yes, Kings River is indeed Kingwood. WLHP at Primrose School is the Boundary. Google Streetview picture even catches the surveyors for this project, how Ironic.
