Or here's a thought...do we really need anything at all in that area? I mean it's kind of nice for these neighborhoods to have some natural buffering from the traffic, the noise, and the light pollution - all of which will increase with this. Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of a tumor.

This changes everything. Why would they want to put it in the middle of a neighborhood?
Alamo Drafthouse will draw people into Pinehurst/KingsRiver subdivision...cutting thru on Kings Park Way (the 2 lane unfinished road). Or up Texas Laurel for AT Shores Dr. avoiding the WLH/1960 intersection. This will be a significant destination, not just another store or restaurant.
Makes me re-consider to my plan for staying till the kids are out of school.

It will definitely change the area. Luckily it'll be small, so it won't be able to draw huge crowds.

As for the location, my guess is they choose it as it is close to both Atascocita and Kingwood, which would be the target audience of a boutique theater.

I don't think it's to do with an age, or was I born old? Emoticon
I just don't understand why it has to be so loud, esp the music in places like this. It's not like I am going to a night club. This is why I hate malls, too loud, too many people.

There is another lot directly across the street from this one (WLHP). I wonder if the owner is going to sell that one too? I would have guessed that this was green belt space, but obviously the owner has just been looking for the right time to sell....

I agree. This sounds like trouble for the neighborhood.

for some reason I thought this Showbiz theatre was in Summerwood by SC High School but when you said FallCreek, I looked it up.
Is there anything else by the theatre? Places to eat, any kind of fast wood? By the looks of it on the map it doesn't look like there is much stuff around.

Lots of places to eat around there! And there is food, video game arcade, bowling alley, and ice cream parlor within the theatre.

It's really nice and my favorite local theatre now. We go to the movies pretty awesome, love seeing movies on the big screen.

It is cold in there always though. Bring a jacket if that makes you miserable like it does me.

Thank you!
It sounds like a fun place. We'll have to check the bowling alley too, my hubs loves bowling.
I always bring a sweater and socks but last time it was so cold, I was covering my ears and nose Emoticon I might bring a blanket this time

Will this be getting addressed at the HOA meeting? Is there any way to protest this? We live on January Drive (it will be directly behind our houses). They will be ripping out part of the woods that we walk in and all the kids play in; plus nearly everyone feeds the deer and wildlife from the woods. We love sitting and watching all the wildlife that comes out of those woods. We don't have enough woodlands in this area as it is. Why develop in the middle of subdivisions and not in the retail areas? Its going to be a terrible eyesore plus worsen our traffic. Not to mention that its just bringing in more of the same businesses that we already have. There is already restaurants, movie theaters, and retail stores here. I don't mind driving to Humble and Kingwood for movies in order to avoid over-development. And by making our subdivisions more noticeable, wont this be opening us up to more vandalism and crime? There is also a park that is across from proposed site that all the neighborhood kids go to. Instead of being surrounded by woods and homes, they will be staring at parking lots and businesses. I don't like any of it at all.

I believe OP indicated that this was presented at most recent KRV meeting. Regardless, organizing and creating a vocal presence in opposition is the least we can do. It may be too late, but we need to determine if this is the case and get people in the know if not.

I am going to try to start compiling data on what is already available in the area WRT to established businesses as well as open retail space. I mean, just a quick thought, but there's the recently emptied HEB in Kingwood that could provide space for something of this nature.

I share your concern. HOAs have no real jurisdiction in this. This falls back on Harris County and their refusal to do any type of zoning, whatsoever. Infrastructure is an afterthought, and 10 to 15 years too late.
