@bbk Moving to Texas, I know her private contracts. The County police or the city police were our guardians. They patrolled the streets day and night. Even in the suburbs. When you called them they were there within 3 to 5 minutes.

Here we have to contract police to protect us. I guess that means that Harris County doesn't have anything to do with our neighborhood. That makes no sense to me since I pay their salaries. i have also seen the constables sitting on the other side of Pinehurst working on their reports. Are they not supposed to be patrolling our neighborhood night and day? As I said before, I never see a patrol car on my street unless the crime has already occurred. No wonder their are so many car break-ins and home invasions.

@AMCLady Officers told us several times the cars are always left unlocked , they aren't BROKEN INTO , they just steal what they want & leave . Most always garages are the same situation they have been left open My neighbor across from me always shut the big garage door but didn't ever lock the door that leads into the garage from her covered patio . A guy that lives next door to us ,him & I were in my yard talking 3 or 4 yrs ago & watched a guy perhaps late 20's with a school back pack on his back enter her garage & a couple minutes latter come out & with us watching just walk on down the street .

I do not leave mine open unless I'm standing in it or doing something inside the garage a project of some sort . Look at the blast out the ACIA just sent out for the month of Aug it looks like most took place in people's garages . Not that your garage isn't your private space because it is . But at least I find that better than these thieves throwing my panties & bra's & personal stuff everywhere & seeing pictures of our family .

@bbk You are right. Some people ask for trouble. However, some of my neighbors have had their cars broken into that were locked and nothing of value was in the cars. My neighbor has had his tires slashed. Another neighbor's trailer was broken into. The list goes on.

I had some people fly into IAH (from NJ and Korea) for meetings.. they stayed at a hotel near IAH and decided that first night to go eat at Chuy's in Humble. While they were in Chuys someone smashed their rental SUV's window and stole laptops and other things. What the @#$@#!!!!

Exactly Trucker! But actually, welcome to anywhere! :-(
They were here to do presentations but lost it all on laptops and other things. Had to wing it.
They should have brought their "expensive" stuff inside Chuy's.

One lady told me she heard Humble had the highest crime rate in the USA.

The trucks/cars were a white 2006+ dodge ram single cab with aftermarket exhaust (sounded like flowmasters). The look out car was a burgundy Pontiac grand am 2 door looked like 2000. I wasn't able to get plates, not even partials.

As far as the camera debate goes, a majority of neighbors in the point decided to test this option from a private stance. I am running some financial and operational models but from how it looks now, I agree it seems to be a more financially viable option to help catch crooks vs countless police man hours spent to solve 20% of crimes. Cameras at the very least would make that percentage go up by giving police more resources and as costly as they might sound, I for one am not about to put a cost on my family's and neighbors safety. Some other options need to be explored to give our community the resources to catch crooks. It's sad how much they are getting away with.

And you guys don't kid yourselves. Places like Haverstock hills are a stones throw away. Humble/Atascocita is more dangerous than you think.

When our oldest child lived in Kingwood she was robbed through her doggie door . She had camera's installed inside her house & caught the thieves .
