honestly, when I was young I made it the national spelling bee (hard) to only loose to the word (color) spelled it (colour) WTH!

@AlettertoElise I don't think black families tell their kids that white man is the enemy. It is sometimes the actions of a few that cause black people to have to discuss race in their household. And hold that talk that most of us dread. I had to discuss race with my daughter before I was ready.

We were all taught to judge individuals. If not, you will be like the ones who judge you.

@757beach You mean that some white people don't like them because they are black? or that they will be treated different because they are black? My point with not telling my son it is because he has aspergers is because I don't want it to be crutch for him.

My daughter has no crutches. She is the top of her class and has no problem with her identity. But she now know facts. She has read history books wanting to learn more

@nikkiole see this is exactly what I am trying to say some of the things are learned not experienced. They way your cousins told you about white people then treated you differently because you "acted" white. These things make some have the which side am I on attitude. If you want to be accepted you have to accept what they are saying. It's just sad to me that it has to be a choice.
