Well, it is always good to acknowledge the positive.... even if it is only the fact that the dead pine needles are gone and the grass growing over the curb was finally trimmed.

I don't follow too many of the other issues, but I bet the parade had more costs than just the hot dogs. There were 4 police officers escorting the parade and I assume they were paid. The parade was nice and my kids enjoyed being a part of it. I am thankful our community has this.

Did someone email a board member to ask about the pools? This could be a management issue for the company that does the staffing for the pools. Maybe too many people called in sick because they didn't want to work? This may not be the fault of the board members, but they should give you an answer if you ask.

I get irritated by a lot of things about the HOA, but I really worry when things seem so aggressive on the part of some community members and some board members. Please don't let your anger over some issues make you unable to see the positive things about our community. I hope you are not as sarcastic in real life as you where in your response to a stranger on a community message board.

Did anyone spend the 4th at The Overlook? It was wonderful! Fantastic Community Event.

That's what this thread was about.

I didn't. Frankly, I didn't know anything about it. Don't think I've ever been to the 4th Parade and I've lived out here since 1978.

Glad that you had a good time, but don't worry about other topics coming up in the thread. That happens on a regular basis around here.

Just like having a conversation with friends. You start off with one thing and end up somewhere else.

@Humbletexan1:

No see I thought the overlook was for that community only.

Please explain the overlook. What is it, where is it and is it open to everyone?

I'm simply not informed about the overlook.

Have any of you (that have issues with the ACIA) volunteered? Get involved and make a difference. Bust up out of those recliners and take the bull by the horns! YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

@Humbletexan1:
No of course they have not. That would mean they have to get out from behind the keyboard and do something. Easier to sit on here and complain about the same subjects over and over again than get out there and do something about it.

They have once again taken a good thread and turned it negative. I did not know anything about fireworks at The Overlook. Sounds like it would have been a good time. I will have to look into next year.

@lynnsgirl
The Overlook is a private business that happens to be in the Atascocita ACIA neighborhood. I would have assumed if we used ACIA funds for a party that it was limited to those that pay for it.

That being said, I really don't know the details of who paid for what and I didn't go.

Sounds like a nice event that some of the homeowners take exception too because of the cost.

@lana7018:
I will let KK know to spread the word better.
Again 2 great events on the 4th. The morning parade was the responsibility of the ACIA. Volunteers were the entire ACIA BOT and volunteers from within and a few from Kings River. The parade end in the Overlook parking and KK gave us permission to use his facility.

The night event held at the Overlook located 20114 PINEHURST DRIVE, ATASCOCITA, TX 77346.
The night event was for all of the close Lake Houston area communities. KK called upon volunteers within these communities to help with the event. Many volunteers from the ACIA community volunteered along with Kings River members. Some showed, up some did not. Those that volunteered believe in putting their efforts towards the positives of the community …..It’s called “old school ethics” .It was such a pleasure to see those efforts of many by watching the joy adults and children were having without politics of some. Our community should be very proud we have an owner of Venue that also feels community comes first ….business will follow. Both events speak volumes of the positives that we have in our community and shows we can move forward with those positives. Any ACIA questions can be either emailed …names on the web site or come to the meetings. This blog is not for that. Ask direct question get a direct answer using email or attending.

I've lived in eagle springs for 11 years now. We pay crazy high dues, $850 a year. We have at least 6 or 8 events per year like the celebration mentioned in this thread. They are limited to ES residents...but it's not like anyone checks IDs. I am quite certain there are many party crashers who don't live here but partake. It is expensive and is included in our annual budget that results in our annual dues.

I rarely attend any of our events because they always conflict with the kids' sports stuff. How dare they not schedule them around my calendar! So my portion of the dues contribution goes to pay for other residents and (gasp) non-residents who do attend. It is what it is, I'm not crying.

My point is - nice neighborhoods with hOA dues and events and amenities all have problems like these, naysayers, and people who aren't happy about something. ES does too. Thankfully we don't have anyone with quite the level of negativity and tenacity as some.

Everyone can't and won't be happy. Some would be better off living without an HOA where things can be to their liking and everything can be within their own personal control.

I also have lifelong friends that live in your HOA area who feel like you do about things. So what do you have to say about that?

In your world, everything is some crazy conspiracy.

Facts are crazy conspiracies- ok

How about responding to the facts

Start with bathroom remodels at the pool house and tell us all about ADA compliant walks.Then please tell us about the 2012 audit and the situation with the grills at shores park.And then you can give us the facts about the shores tennis court(care to tell us it's not falling apart) Oh, give us the status on both our pools. Please give us the facts.
