Talk about being shortsighted!

The U.S. life raft is only so big

If we keep adding people - it will eventually sink.

What are the long-term results of these illegal immigrants coming across our border?
What are the long-term ramifications of this?
for -our- future generations?
for -our- country?

Illegal immigration is hurting our economy
Illegal immigration is hurting our country
Illegal immigration is degrading our society
Illegal immigration is degrading our way of life

@iamfaithfulbeliever:

And what seems to cement the disaster at hand, is the fact the Captain and his crew are so arrogant and condesending, that they don't realize that the iceberg pierced the hull fifteen minutes ago.

"stop coming here, -you- can either improve their economy or tank ours... "

That's funny! At your house do you...
1) put food outside your house to make sure the bugs don't come in?
2) put valuables outside so that the criminals don't come in?

I would never want to degrade our economy to lift theirs.

We are in competition with the whole rest of the world.
Those we are caring are putting us at a huge disadvantage.

I want to win.

It seems you want everyone to get a trophy.

>> What a waste. They will turn out to be Lawn boys and convicts competing for low end jobs American's used to do.

Deport them now before they find out how great our welfare system is.

Sorry all of you bleeding hearts out there but most of these kids are already too old to be educated properly even if education was important in their society.

@timbom:

At least for now most are cleaning houses, mowing lawns, and working in certain industries and will be as long as we are addicted to cheap labor.

@Undecided:
I'm certain all the men on my street LOVE that cheep labor as I only see one homeowner doing his lawn & 1woman on the entire street .

>> I think the parents are cowards! No way, no HOW would I send my kids forward to make things easier for me to get into a country. TOTAL BS!

These people are USING their kids to get what they want, to work the system better to their advantage.

Secure our borders.

Let's deal with ALL the illegals already here and start enforcing the laws we have.

No place in this world can you just go enter another country illegally and have them cater to your every need, make special provisions for you and let you stay around for as long as you want illegally.

@lana7018:

In my OPINION< you nailed this!

I agree!!!!!!

@lynnsgirl:

wrong, if both of you were in the same situation you would probably do the same.

So then think about it...why would these parents do so? You really think alllll these parents don't give a crap about their kids? Only American parents care about their kids?

>> This article made me tear right up. I cannot imagine what desperation I would have to feel in order to put my children through this trauma!!

@HumbleGirl:

"Last week, Johnson said Homeland Security is exploring options for faster repatriation of unaccompanied children, who by law have special protections that are not afforded to adult detainees."

"Immigration officials cannot simply deport an unaccompanied child as they would an adult. Unaccompanied children from Mexico generally are quickly returned to the border. Those from countries other than Mexico are supposed to be transferred from Border Patrol custody to the Office of Refugee Resettlement within 72 hours."

"Then the children are to be placed in a network of more than 90 state-licensed shelters and other facilities. The government searches for relatives or other sponsors in the U.S. to care for them while they await the outcome of their immigration cases. Roughly 90 percent are released from custody within about a month"

These paragraphs is a prime example of what I'm speaking of in this thread. As long as there is a law that provides children special protections their parents will continue to send them over here. It's not that I'm not sympathetic but it is not our responsibility to care for them. Our social service apparatus is being pushed to the brink. Border Patrol agents were not hired to be social workers.

I disagree with the President in that he wants immigration reform. But the most effective means of stopping this lies with Congress. That's why I said people are directing their ire at the wrong person. They need to let their voices be heard in Congressional offices.

@rocket:
I don't like the part that says the Gov searches for relatives or ( OTHER SPONSORS) in the Us to care for them while they await the outcome of their immigration cases. There are some real creeps out there that could use these kids for the sex trade . We have to go to the root of the problem & make the countries fix their selves Or we help them .Strong talks with Mexico & if they need help let's help . That benefits us a whole bunch more than anything we have done in the middle east , those folks hate us more than they ever did .

I'm sure that's true but lets be real here. We haven't even attempted to secure our borders. Pretty much all we do is look the other way and continue to flood this country with undocumented, illegals.

What I'm suggesting is let's draw a line in the sand and start somewhere to shut it down and sort out the mess we have over here now. I am not opposed to some form of amnesty for those already in the country that are working, or willing to work and pay their share of taxes.

At the same time, not everyone who is here deserves to get to stay and those are the ones that need to get the boot and fast.

While our lawmakers waver back and forth trying to please whoever they think is going to next elect them - the rest of us are suffering and paying the consequences of their ineptitude.

As of the end of May of this fiscal year, about 39,000 adults with children have been apprehended along the southwest border, Mayorkas said. As of June 15, about 52,000 unaccompanied children were apprehended along the southwest border.

Billions of dollars on people, fences, cameras, etc. and still not secure. Don't understand your statement we have not attempted. Truth is , we cannot secure it.

What I mean is we have allowed the influx of millions on undocumented illegal entries to come and stay in this country. We provide free schooling, financial assistance, medical care, free legal aid, housing, and the list goes on and on and on.

Stop all of the free services and it might not be so popular to come here illegally. It's worth a try.
