first step is to secure the border...

No I don't think that is the 1st step. I think instead we need to pull our boys out of the middle east we will never win anything there . As soon as we leave those area's the people go back to their normal fighting & killing each other A culture I don't think any of us will really understand . Bring our boys home & how about we TRY FIXING Mexico . Clean out the drug Cartel & ALL government employees from the top down & this would give the people of Mexico a chance for a life .I think we all know these people are hard working good people as a whole . These folks just would not risk their lives & leave their family & the only country they know if they had a way to make a living there .I think most all come to us as uneducated & understand they will not make HUGE BUCKS . .A construction guy that worked in my house is working his butt off to send his kids to college . He under stood how his children can have sooo much more & because he is here he can feed ,cloth & put a roof over their heads . If Mexico were fixed there would be no reason to risk their life to come here . Will we do it ( NO WE WILL NOT ) We could have stopped all this long ago, I believe BILLIONS go into American's pockets from the drug cartel so I guess we learn to live with it ! Only other thing would be to have a work program like Canada .

Are you saying...bring the troops back to go into Mexico to clean out the drug cartels and fix Mexico...? That is an odd suggestion if I am understanding your writing correctly.

My husband told me it was a mistake to go into the middle east & said we will not win & most likely not make anything any better . And he was right .You can't win when you don't know who you are fighting . In Vietnam it may be a 3 yr old with a bomb strapped to him running towards the soldiers . Same thing in Afghanistan or it is a woman wearing a burka . Do you want to go ahead & open fire on this 3 yr old ? And if you do, & this child DOES NOT BLOW UP how do you live with that ? If he blows up( I guess )you can say one child lost & 10 adults saved ? War is ugly & horrible no matter what .
I don't understand what is odd about it ??? When you say secure the border , and you catch some on our side ,how many & for how long will we completely take care of them till we dump them off BACK IN THEIR COUNTRY only for them do it all over again !!! And how many more years ??? 10, 20 50 ? How long do we SECURE THE BORDER ??? How long do they make $1.00 here OWN A GRASS MOWING CO & pay no tax or SS??? They send money back to Mexico . Nope they are very fearful of all the corruption in their country, drug cartels & government & a MAN worth his salt will do whatever he has to in order to take care of his wife & children . This country is on our border & the way I see it I believe it is to our advantage TO FIX IT & if it means having forceful talks with Mexico & sending our soldiers when all else fails just maybe that is the thing to do . What would you suggest ? By the way I do not like war or violence but sometimes there is no other way .
