@chasinghosts : It's great to stock up!!! We, too, have an abundance of items that we always stock … long before this crisis happened (lots of paper goods, soaps, nonperishables, canned goods, rice, and beans). We also stock up on meat; however, we did not have many steaks so when I spotted those at HEB, I could not resist. We did indeed enjoy some steak. (Thanks). We aren't big meat eaters, so we usually eat about one-half of a steak each. I grilled steak outside and used the Foodsaver to individually freeze the remaining steaks. We had a baked potato and a big salad with the steak. It was nice. We have been eating the frozen foods out of our freezer also. I make a mean homemade Italian spaghetti meat sauce in a huge crock pot and freeze it in individual freezer quart bags. (I lay the bags down on a cookie sheet and freeze. Then I stack the bags, once frozen, in a plastic shoe box (without lid) and store in our standup freezer. I pretty much do the same thing with my homemade tostada soup. I prepare and freeze other meals also, but the homemade spaghetti sauce and the tostada soup are my personal favorites. We also store frozen fruit in the freezer for making smoothies with the Nutribullet. Wished I could have had that Nutribullet when the children were small. It is a good way to hide vegetables and get your children their daily supply of veggies. Kids will actually drink my triple berry smoothie (kid-tested … lol) because it actually is really good. The fruit, yogurt, and almond milk disguise the spinach. And the chia seeds that I add are a good source of omega -3 fatty acids and fiber as well.
