eighteen : Then stay home, this whole response is way overblown!

@Govchance : I don't know which response you're referring to. However, you say that as if I'm not already not avoiding large crowds.

@eighteen : I am assuming that you are not an expert in infectious diseases. If you don't feel safe, don't go. But don't ruin it for everyone else. BTW, Google the numbers on how many people die from the flu, each and every year.

@Govchance : Oh, you're one of those people. This isn't the flu. It's deadlier with a higher transmission rate.

@eighteen : Lol, well maybe. Not sure what one of those really is. Seems like I am getting judged on a really small sample size.

@lynnsgirl : I think my response, which was written to your original post, got tagged to a reply that mentioned fining people that did not stay home. Hence, Russia, lol.

By the way, the petition has already reached 4,000. Experts are advising seniors to avoid crowds. We're retired and have underlying health conditions. Is it worth the risk to attend? And, we've already purchased expensive concert tickets for next week. We would like to get our money back if we can't attend. Do we cross our fingers and pray we don't catch anything in a crowd of 50,000?

@rocket : I heard today that's already happening (except the part about the restaurants). Depending on where you live, they're closing schools, churches and playing ball games without anyone in the stands. Maybe the CDC knows more about this virus outbreak than we've been told. Consider this, entire cities and towns have been quarantined in China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy. If the virus spreads here, how will a city-wide quarantine going to affect your everyday life?

@bmwood99 :

In my particular situation not much. But for those whose livelihoods will be affected by such a shut down it will impact them quite a bit. Additionally we're also talking about a quality of life issue. Because on a practical basis people will still need to shop for food for example. So it's going to be nearly impossible for folks to avoid all large crowds. To that end I haven't seen where in this country teams are playing games without fans in the stands. Although that's something being implemented elsewhere.

At the end of the day we do not know how long the threat of this virus will be with us. Will it be several more weeks, months, or years? At some point we're going to have to live our lives in spite of it.

@bk1960 : I agree with that. Just don't go. People are afraid, so don't go.
