@TexasGal :

What is going on. We allowed our neighborhood to become lease central and all the riff raffs are moving in.

@cbp210 : I don't know what your neighborhood is. Mine is Eagle Springs, and I'll be the first to admit parts of it are becoming an absolute crap hole. We've already decided to move. Our street looks like a junkyard these days.

I live in A south and I remember when I first moved here in 2004 it was a very nice area and small atmosphere now it is crowded and turning into a major suburb and the fact that leasing companies are buying houses and leasing out to anyone does not help.

@cbp210 : Yes, more and more homes are turning into rentals here, too. I do think overcrowding is definitely part of the issue.

This is so scary..i grew up in Atascocita Forest, and live in Kingwood now..the crime is getting worse around here. It's scary to think you could be running down the street, and get randomly shot.

Don't blame it on the guns...people kill people. Outlaw guns? That is like outlawing drugs and they are still rampant and killing people. Maybe teaching our kids from a young age some morals and responsibility would have a better impact on our neighborhoods.

Yes it is because normally most of these leasees are not eligible to buy homes and thus have to resort to leasing. I have no issues with that but if you want to pretend to be a homeowner then at least act like one and take pride on what you are allowed to possess.

Well Atascocita is no longer the safe middle class suburb we thought it was. Lot of rent houses around when I look at HAR. Neighborhoods are older, Eagle Springs and Atasca Woods are at least 10 plus years old. Demographics change the days of quiet living are numbered.

@tinytim : So is that how you folks judge a good area, by it's age or if people rent there? I'm just curious because where I come from an older area is usually better established, more in demand and nicer to live in. We don't judge people for renting because that's how most young families start out. Our subdivision is now about 15 yrs old, still building and little crime. So what I'm saying is newer may not always better.

@chasinghosts : Valid point. I do not think that newer is better. I would prefer that most of my neighbors were owners rather than renters. For me personally pride of ownership outweighs pride of renting when it comes to investing my time, money, upgrades, maintenance, etc into a home. I assume that most people are like me.

I do have a question would you want to buy a home in a neighborhood where the majority of owners were owners or renters or doesn't matter to you?

Just curious.
