I want to take the pups there when it cools off. They like to explore.

@Luckysis :
They are likely to sniff out a snake & get bitten .

@bbk Now that would be a definite possibility with my dogs.

@CelticStorm In 1 million years I would not sleep at this park ,swim or walk around this place . Snakes ,alligators , spiders , & God only knows what else lives there . Who knows BIG FOOT is probably living out there also .

I haven't been. Wherever I take them I stay on trails or in open public areas. I'd never let them wander anywhere questionable. If I didn't like the way it looked I'd leave. I love my babies Emoticon

@Luckysis :

I had 3 little spoiled rotten Yorkies Gucci , Armani ,& Judy I loved & miss them . One of the 3 would have found a snake in just about 3 minutes . And that would have been Gucci . These tiny dogs it most likely wouldn't take much poison to kill them .

Yorkies are precious. And yes...it's better to be overly cautious. I get accused all the time of babying and overprotecting mine.

After hearing multiple reports of hogs being a problem and going armed with them in mind, never saw any signs of any. Nor snakes, or much of anything else for that matter. Some chickadees, a woodpecker, and one squirrel. Was rather different than the deer, armadillos, rabbits etc we see at Double Lake.

Only problem we had with the dog, she kept eating the yaupon berries! Hope they aren't poisonous & only give her red colored $hi+!!! 😂

@bbk :

1) Spiders are everywhere -even at your own house!

2) we stayed on the lake and there were no warnings about alligators nor did we see any,

3)I had a snake on my 3rd floor balcony at home. Once it saw me, it scrammed before I could kill it.

I don't like snakes, nor flying/biting insects, and the best place for alligators is on a plate and a nice pair of boots!

But, I dont let that scare me from enjoying the peacefulness, the serenity, the personal reset! My dog comes back less needy too!

And if it sucks so bad you just can't take it, you can be home in less than 30 minutes!

BTW, Bigfoot lives in the Pacific Northwest and his cousin lives at Double Lake, Monday-Thursday!

My sister in-law lives on a 10 acre peninsula with huge Oak trees & a beautiful yard which is the whole 10 acres on a lake . A private road to get there & gated once you get there .Talk about chill out . All grass is kept short .

So you are saying there are no snakes, alligators, or spiders on your SIL's property? Isn't Antarctica kinda cold this time of year!!! 😂😂😂

@CelticStorm I am certain there are lots & lots but 10 acres gives them plenty of food on 3 sides of the property near the waters edge . I don't see anything near the house . I do see alligators all the time though . I get goose bumps thinking of us swimming & water skiing in younger years .

Ooohhhh, you are talking about actual Lake Houston!!! You are right!

But Lake Houston Wilderness Park (Formerly Lake Houston State Park), doesn't actually border on Lake Houston, (I agree, fslse advertisement)!

But I still have not heard of any Bigfoot sightings around here locally!!!😂😂😂

That wilderness park is awesome. I camped out there about 4 years ago. It was very relaxing. I never saw snakes in the week we were there... It was during the summer also. Trails are nice to walk or ride bikes, cabins are pretty sweet but stayed in the shelters. (It was screened in.)

Great place - highly recommend going there to check it out. Been a few times. We like the A-frames and cabins. Staff is nice. DS loves to roam the trails. Nature Center has activities for the kids.
