@Sammee It looks like a small igloo box (or that is what I remember) It takes a C battery. You put the bait inside and they go in but don't come out until you just dump it in the trash. Mine always loves chocolate.

We went to a bunk house that was infested with mice once. DD was little bitty at the time - only a few months old. I would have made a pallet for her on the floor to sleep except for the creepy crawlies everywhere. I ended up putting her on my chest to sleep for the night. I didn't get much sleep that night because her little fine baby hair would rub my chin every once in a while and wake me thinking there was a mouse on us!

Hope you catch that little sucker soon!!

@Smokeybear

We have a dog....who loves peanut butter.... Luckily, the mouse ran into DD's playroom where we can shut the door and keep the dog out. I 'think' Mr. Nibbles is still in there...I didn't leave him a way out, but he is a mouse, so who knows. We were reluctant to get the neck snapping traps because we don't want mouse brains and guts squirted all over, but I think I will go get those tomorrow if we haven't had success yet.

@Sammee No brains or splattered mouse that I have experienced. The electonic thing is about $50 so I'd try the other things first.

Make sure if you are using poison in the attic your pets do not contact the mouse. Eating it is deadly for them.

In all my years of using the spring traps I have found them clean and humane, but I understand that is not a deal breaker. Somewhat satisfying to hear it go off in the middle of the night though couldn't go back to sleep until I checked it.

The guy at Lowes told me to go to the far corner of the yard and put out the green poisonous blocks to lure the mice away from the house. I fashioned a little mouse hotel out of an upsidedown plastic flower pot that I cut tiny doorways in the sides. I drilled a hole through the bottom so that I could secure it in the ground with a spiral tent stake. Then I covered it all up with landscaping stones. I don't want any other animals to be able to access it....only a bear could get to it now....and tiny mice. Eat up little vermin.... Emoticon

Dang it...didn't catch the mouse last night.

I put DD's trailcam outside by the poison hotel and nothing went there to eat, either.

Poisoned mice are really sad for owls and eagles. Not lecturing but please reconsider using poison like this. Emoticon

I can deal with one...but if I find more, I may have to abandon my house.

@Sammee Go pick up some peppermint oil and spray all around the house. I haven't seen any in over a year since I started the peppermint oil. I do spray it pretty strong (about half water half oil).
I buy it online. When I had them, I would spray the counters with it because I didn't want them on them.
Your guest could have left the bedroom through a tiny hole. They can get through a dime size hole. My guess is it is there hiding out. They eat interesting stuff. It doesn't have to be food but try some chocolate as the bait. Put a little not on the trap about 6 inches away. If the room has an adjoining bath, make sure the toilet top is down so they have no water.
