Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?

Acorn Golf Club is an indoor golf and training facility where people can come play, practice, learn, and just have a

good time. We have state-of-the-art golf simulators, offer golf instruction, leagues, events, and different ways for golfers to work on their game. If you aren’t in the mood for golf, we also have 30+ interactive games, including football, baseball, soccer, and zombie dodgeball.

We’re a new business, but the idea behind Acorn has been something we’ve been excited about for a long time. We wanted to create a place where anyone could enjoy themselves year-round, especially here in Houston where the weather doesn’t always cooperate with your plans. More than anything, we want Acorn to feel like a place you want to come back to—whether you’re serious about improving your game or just looking to have some fun.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?

It really came down to wanting to be able to practice golf and seeing an opportunity to do something a little different. Golf is a game that you can always get better at, but finding the time and the right environment to practice can be difficult.

We wanted to create a place where you could walk in, grab a club, and have a great golf experience without having to worry about the weather, finding a tee time, or spending four or five hours on a course.

Tell us a few things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?

One of the things we’re most proud of is that Acorn is about more than just golf. We’ve designed the facility to give people different ways to have fun, compete, and spend time together.

One thing that really sets us apart from most indoor golf facilities is that we’ve integrated Laser Shot IR technology into our simulator bays. That allows us to offer realistic shooting challenges and interactive experiences using infrared technology—so people can enjoy the experience without live ammunition. It’s been a fun way to bring something completely different into the space.

What is your favorite part of running this business?

It’s seeing people come in and have a great time.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
We’re a great fit for someone who wants to improve their game, someone who wants to play a quick nine or 18 holes without spending half the day at the course, or a group of friends looking for something different to do.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
My background is in accounting, commercial business, and marketing, and I didn’t actually start playing golf until I was 26. I wasn’t a great golfer when I started, but I fell in love with the game for the people, the fun, and the time spent together—and that experience is a big part of what inspired me to create Acorn Golf Club.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
On October 17th, we’ll be hosting both our Ladies’ Golf Social & Clinic and our Fall Open House, giving the community a chance to come check out Acorn, try the simulators, see the latest equipment, and meet us.

New members can receive $50 off membership when they sign up before October 31st. We also offer 10% off memberships for first responders, active-duty and veteran military members, and educators.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?

The biggest thing we want people to know is that you don’t have to be a great golfer—or even a golfer at all—to enjoy Acorn. We’re building a place where people can come play, practice, compete, try something new, and spend time with friends and family in a fun, welcoming environment.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?

Over the next couple of years, we want to continue growing Acorn into a bigger part of our community and create more programs and events that bring people together. One area we’re especially excited about is developing women-specific programs, including women’s golf leagues, brunch ball, wine & nine, and firearms training.
