Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?

I've been in business since 2008, serving homeowners and business owners all across Greater Houston. At Lightspeed Security & Surveillance, we install high-definition security camera systems, 24/7 monitored alarm systems, smart home automation, and remote video monitoring so you can check on your property right from your phone. We also install customers' existing equipment — something a lot of companies won't do. Whether it's your first system or an upgrade, we make the whole process simple and straightforward.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I chose this industry because I genuinely enjoy helping people feel safe. Knowing that my work protects families, homes, and businesses gives me a real sense of purpose every day. I started Lightspeed because I kept seeing the same problem — companies would oversell customers on equipment they didn't need, do a sloppy install, and move on. I knew there was a better way — the Lightspeed way. I built this company on honest service and word of mouth, one customer at a time. That's still how we grow today.

Tell us a few things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?

I'm proud that our customers trust us enough to come back — for upgrades, for a second property, and to refer their

friends and family. We've earned five consecutive Best of HomeAdvisor Awards and a BBB Gold Star Rating with an A+ accreditation. But what I'm most proud of is our reputation for honesty. I've had customers call me needing seven cameras and I told them five would do the job — and saved them money on the spot. We do the installation right too. Clean cable management, running wires properly through finished walls, not just slapping cables along the outside of your house. We also offer service in both English and Spanish, so we can serve more of our community the right way.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
Honestly? It's that moment when a customer sees their system working for the first time and tells me they finally feel safe. As a father of two, I built this company around that feeling. Security isn't just a product — it's peace of mind. And building relationships with customers who keep coming back and sending us referrals year after year — that's what makes this worth it.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?

We work with both residential and commercial clients throughout Greater Houston — Kingwood, Atascocita, The Woodlands, Katy, Humble, Tomball, Cypress, and everywhere in between. On the residential side, I love working with homeowners who want honest guidance and no sales pressure. On the commercial side, we handle everything from small businesses to large commercial properties that need a serious, scalable security solution. Tech-savvy or not — we meet you where you are and make it easy.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
My name is Omar Garcia and I'm the founder and owner of Lightspeed Security. I've spent over 20 years in this industry and I've personally been involved in thousands of installations across the Houston area. When you call us, you're likely going to talk to me directly — not a call center, not a middleman. I take that personally, and I think our customers feel the difference.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
I want to keep growing our commercial security side while staying deeply rooted in the residential communities we've served for over 15 years. We're also expanding our smart home and remote monitoring capabilities because that's where customer demand is heading — people want security that works with their phones and their lifestyle. But at the end of the day, growth for us just means more of the same: doing right by every customer, every time.
