This test is a definite lifesaver. I used the second generation fit test and it was positive. After colonoscopy, they told me they pulled a 15 mm polyp out of my ascending colon.

Company I worked for paid for a complete physical for employees at 45. They found polyps on my test at that age. I contend that probably saved my life.

It is routine for me every five years.

The test is not near as bad as people think it is either.

Colonoscopies are necessary and lifesaving; however,
I have a stupid question. Why would you join ADC and share a colonoscopy polyp removal? Just .....

One of three reasons:
1. For informational reasons and to save lives.
2. To earn points towards a Box Game.
3. To be the "butt" of our jokes.

Hoping for the first two. I hope he saves lives and I hope he wins the Box Game. 😎

Saved my husbands and sisters life too. I get them every five years too. My dad died of colon cancer when I was nine. Don't want that fate for my daughter.

The procedure itself isn't bad... It's the dreaded "prep!" Emoticon

@hutch5801 :

I think the reason would be it is very much so an unpleasant thought when you think about getting one . Not fun to prep for & just not fun watching your family eat while you have jello . We all pretty much put off things we don't like to do . How many want to go to a football game ? I'm sure a bunch do . Now how many want to go mow the yard & pull all the weeds in the flower bed in 100 degrees of heat ? We all put things off & it's nice of someone to say I got the test & yes they found polyps & removed them . What if this person had waited . And that should be what people take away from the discussion is to not put it off .

I tasted the new prep stuff now being used a couple months ago when my DH had his done . I told him the woman that does my nails did the orange flavor & said it was GOOD . Now I found that a little hard to believe after the other 2 horrible things & have had . But she was right it just tasted like an orange drink .

I would rather it be tasteless. I liked McDonald's orange drink when I was little, but there's no way I could drink one of those now. Yuck. I cannot imagine having to drink a gallon of orange drink, or whatever the amount is, for the colonoscopy.

@Sammee
Other flavors available. it's just two five ounce drinks followed by lots of water.
Read the reviews on the net.
Prep is not near what it used to be.

The type of prep usually depends on the dr. you are seeing and what he likes... Hopefully my next time the dr. will be using a different one!!!

prep depends on doctor. My sister just had like 16 oz to drink and a pill. I use Dr. Banker and had to drink a gallon of super salty no flavor golightly. I had to add crystal light to mask the saltyness of it. It was still tough but i did it. the follow with a bottle of mag citrate.

I call the stuff goallnightly.
