Since most of HISD is in Harris County the rules are not as strong and they do not have to follow city laws

@carol888 : Probably a mix. It's right next to Summer Creek HS. But part might be in Sheldon.

@carol888 :

Most of it is in Sheldon ISD. As Dr Sconzo said, Sheldon will get most of the taxes but we will see most of the kids in our schools. BTW, he told that to the Supt of Sheldon ISD......who lives in Summerwood.

Generation park is all in Sheldon ISD. GP also created their own taxing district outside existing tax districts, ISD,ESD GP pays a fee to them annually for services. This was done so GP could get the sales tax revenue.

@Clydepuckett : well, if they're not empty then the residents need to mow their yards and make the place look lived in and not abandoned.

Lapeze: The overcrowding at AHS, for example, can be cured in five minutes with no bond funds: by changing the boundaries. This school community, however, has rejected any discussion of any boundary changes, which is the community's choice--it is voluntary. (Nevertheless, the bond will add several classrooms to AHS.)

This was already avoided when they split Humble High and AHS.

Just say NO!!! Vote AGAINST.
(Notice how Clyde keeps saying "We" as in we of the HISD crowd who wants to keep spending money with no accountability. Don't let the tax increase discussion distract you from the fact that they are not being forthright about why they want (they demand they NEED) the bond money.

@Davie18 :

no accountability

What makes you think the Board is not accountable? They can be voted out.

Rezoning is what is needed, but that is where the board always caves to public pressure.

2) high schools in hisd seem to be a contest as to which school is fanciest

@Ordnanceman : I doubt it will fail. If you asked the average Atascocita resident if they think a super sized school is good they will say no. Sadly, voter turn out is so low it will pass no matter what.

@Ordnanceman :

Sadly, I don't think it will fail... HISD employs about 5,000. Those who live within the district boundaries are likely to vote for the bond.

So, we're going to get the Taj Mahal of Middle and Elementary schools (talking price tag here, not what's inside) and whatever half-a-billion + can buy.
