There is one close to me where the person parks a boat in their driveway or their truck in the middle of it and then one in the street. Problem there is it's on that infamous curve on fountain Lilly in AW back by the high school. It's scary just trying to get through there as it is.

@Blackhorse77

Do you get ticketed of an accident is caused by your vehicle blocking the view of traffic?

@BusyMommy

I don't believe you can (get ticketed) as long as you are legally parked.

So after reading this I decided to look into and report on this issue. While I see some minor issues shown , the good citizens of Atascocita are aware of not parking on curves so vehicles are forced into the other lane and possible oncoming traffic, and not parking too close to intersections and forcing vehicles to travel out of their lanes into incoming traffic. All and all the good citizens of Atascocita are careful not to expose others to danger unnecessarily.

The exception is right here close to me 😂 They have to know how hard it is to get around that curve. They have cut back on parking there but I believe it's the HOA that has told them to stop.

As they are county streets, I believe that the only resolution for areas that are not posted as no parking, but if parked in force traffic into a dangerous situation, is the posting of no parking signs. That then allows for ticketing ,which helps those good citizens who aren't aware of the danger to be cognizant of it. At intersections there are laws on the book that allow for ticketing if one parks to close to the intersection and causes a dangerous situation. It is up to local law enforcement to enforce those laws.
Personally I don't mind walking a little extra to provide for traffic safety and also make it more convenient for residents to egress from driveways when I do have to park on the street. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

We have someone on our street that parks their" old beater" on the curve on a dangerous stretch of road and my firm belief is they just are wanting someone to hit it so they can claim....and of course they don't use the 2 car garage as it is full of junk.....

@MrsHB You are probably spot on. Had a neighbor who did the same and guess what? They received a new car out of it down the road. Amazing how they park in the driveway now. Hmmmmm.

sometimes they park directly behind the drive. I don't want to hit them but would love to tell them to park in their dang driveway! But I am nice!

yea putting that note on the windshield is absolutely rude and threatening. If the car is parked legally, what is someone going to retaliate for ? The person who needs to be retaliated against is the anonymous post it note coward.

Our HOA laws (in ACIA) allow for street parking as long as it's less than 24 hours.

We have a large street lamp that is used on our street for a work vehicle to park under and to be honest, it stops those that live on our street from driving like bats out of hell as they have to slow down in the evening when it's there.

There are folks on our street who walk their dogs and children riding bikes. The street parkers actually help with the speeding situation. If I see a neighbor speeding, I will make the international sign "slow down" - palm down and slowly lowering in a repetitive motion. It's particularly bad on Atascocita Shores as this is used as a cut through from 1960.

Thankfully I have a long driveway and I live on a dead-end street. No worries for me and neighbors won't even park in front of my house as everyone on my block is respectful.

I wish they would lower the speed to 20 throughout Pinehurst to cut down on Kingwood people speeding through to save time.
