Lakes on Eldridge when my oldest daughter lived there had the most BEAUTIFUL retention pond (Lake) you have seen & as I remember they even sold waterfront lots on it for more $ of course . And the landscaping was so beautiful at that time around it I would have gladly paid extra .

I wouldn't care to live boarding the 1 we have much less knowing there would be 2 out in our area . What next a 3rd just across the lake ?Dayton Tx has Lucile Plane State Jail , Henly Jail Complex & TDC JLV Howtower unit & there is 1 in Cleveland that I know of I think Liberty Tx might have some .

Interesting stuff...Detention center doesn't necessarily mean jail. Based on the Harris County Appraisal District map and the way the blocks are subdivided, it could be any variety of detention center applications; from Juveniles to immigrants.However, based on the property status, I am guessing those plans were long vacated; there are a number of issues with this property that will make it hard to develop as has been pointed out; in addition to the fact that homes are being built / sold on property that is adjacent to this; I would suspect that there would be real estate disclosure laws that would put the developers at great risk; on top of other considerations.It was clear in the Bridges development propaganda that this was not included - even though it was clearly present on the HCAD schematics.Might be more info coming.

@carol888 :Well, the homes adjacent to the lindsay Lyons complex are selling for @ $81/ft2 while the homes adjacent to the pits are selling for @ 118/ft2; so for a 3,000ft2 house, that comes out to @ $110,000 difference in value.additionally as the lindsay Lyons complex has been there longer than 20 yrs - I would assume that anyone moving into that area had full knowledge of the facility in the neighborhood. Not so in this case. I am pretty sure folks buying in adjacent neighborhoods aren't being made aware (see bridges sales brochure from previous post).there are a couple minor differences.

I think we are ok here. There is no way anyone is going to build a jail right in the middle of a residential area. If not from a political point then a practical one.
