I made my cranberry sauce tonight. Fresh cranberries simmered with organic coconut sugar (better for you!) and water, then simmered again with the zest of oranges and lemons and the juices of both, a big diced Granny Smith apple, a cinnamon stick and finely minced celery leaves. Nice and thick! My house smells amazing! One down! I'm about to start the fixins for the dressing (gotta make cornbread and saute some celery, garlic, onions, parsley, sage sausage, etc., and minced Serrano peppers because that's how I roll ). Will put it in containers and throw together Thursday morning with chicken stock that I froze last week from chicken and dumplings. Everything else will get made Thursday morning while this beast of a turkey is roasting. Honey Baked Ham will get served at room temp! I'm ordering pizza tonight.

@brightlights My god! I'm still willing to leave the family whenever you are ready to invite me.

@DaycareMom C'mon! I'll be the one sweating in a pretty outfit with turkey juice and gravy and heavy cream splattered all over it, hair in an impromptu messy ponytail and holding a !I have 11 sides/apps to make! Mama's gonna need some "medication."

BTW, this year (for once) wasn't supposed to be on me, but the tides changed 2 weeks ago. Sigh. I'm not fronting...I actually love this.

@brightlights Considering our thanksgiving dinner was at Applebee's last year, my kids are excited for Thursday dinner. I'm just doing the basics. Deviled eggs are a must and then I'm going to try my hand at 7 layer bars. Buttttt.. Hubs got me butterfinger baking bits instead of butterscotch chips so I'm not sure if it's gonna work!

@DaycareMom Oooh! Butterfinger bits would be even better! Do it! to you, girlie. You'll make this year's awesome.

@brightlights :Ditto! Never ran into others "in the know". Every time somebody new came over for Thanksgiving they were knocked out by the JD Pies (alittle hard on some with weaker stomachs as it's basically pure sugar). Nobody made them as good as our G/ma but we give it hell!

Is t this fun?? Even virtually, we BOND in our kitchen!

Haven't seen any Pecan Praline recipes. They were a big deal when we were growing up for T/giving and Xmas (not so much any more). I do not like Pecans and my mom used to get so mad at my G/ma (who was famous for her PP's) for making me my own "special batch" w/out the pecans. Pecan Pralines cut the Pecans (lol). They were sooo good!

@brightlights Magic cookie bars turned out delish even with the butterfinger chips! Yay! I'm in heaven!
