@TXNS_fan
Where I'm currently going my stylist is not the owner, but I have always left a tip. I'd feel bad otherwise.

@TXNS_fan back in the day, you weren't expected to tip the salon owner. Try that today and your next cut will be your last with them. I don't agree with that, but it's a reality. Salon services expect 15-20% gratuity. $5 minimum for services costing less for example eye brow wax.

@MrsNancy So you are saying you pay your stylist and then you tip the salon owners, not the stylist? I am confused.

I give her 20% tip+little bit extra when it's close to Christmas.
I didn't know about the minimum $5. The eyebrow wax is $7, am I expected to give $5 tip? Oops! I just started waxing the eyebrows (I used to thread), I didn't know the rule.

@mw3538 if your stylist owns the salon, in the past you were not expected to tip her. She doesn't give 50% of what she charges or pay booth rental for her chair because she owns it. Today, the owner fully expects a gratuity if you are pleased with the service they provided.

@TXNS_fan maybe not on a $7 service. If you get say $18- $25 service don't tip $2.70 or $3.75 give them $5.

Wash, Cut & deep condition $50. I don't do style or color.

I have never in my life spent $600 at the salon even on my wedding day! For $600 I would think that would maybe include mani/pedi/massage/facial - extra things like that? So for a spa experience, maybe, but not just hair.

@macdaddy - Yes. Perhaps as much as 4 times that amount (perhaps) when I was getting excellent extension put in. That was during the time I was trying to grow my own hair out. Now I'm back to long hair (of my own) and don't spend much except for a trim.

I get my daughter's hair cut every 6-8 weeks but I only get my haircut once or twice a year, so I spend about $40-$60 on myself. I once worked in a salon as a receptionist and saw how hard they worked and how much they relied on tips, so I tip about 40-50%. When I take my 4 year old to get her hair cut it is only $11 but I tip 9-10$ because kids are much more challenging to interact with and be patient with.

I have always paid $69.00 for a cut & style . The person at Visible changes that has done my hair for 30 yrs is a creative Director which is the highest grade of education with Visible Changes you can have & she is awesome !!! I quit going to the mall because many of the people I see there I would not want living next door to me . Months ago I walked out & found I believe it was 4 police cars & they had put some thieves in their cars & I decided I'm done with this place .

Now I am trying to let my hair get long enough so my hairdresser at V C can fix it .My hair looks so awful I have decided maybe that great haircut is worth being very leary of the people around me .

@bbk It's hard to find a good stylist. The lady that does mine (Chonchi) has been taking care of me and my husbands for 25 years. I followed her around and finally convinced her to start her own business which she's done very well with. Thankfully, she is setup in Kingwood, so she is close and it's easy to get in and out.

@sandman How many guns do you have?

I don't really understands how CHL works but I want to buy a small gun to have it under my bed, for protection mainly... And have my wife learn how to use it too

I spend 12 hours a day working and my wife is usually by herself at our apartment and we recently discovered that we have pretty sketchy neighbors so I guess it could be useful...
