@tflea : Interesting comment. Wearing mask in Japan has been a common thing for at least 20 years that can remember. In fact, I had a flight on JAL to Tokyo in the the late 1990s and was shocked that most of the passengers had mask on. It actually made me nervous back then...LOL

@FenderBass : Even a common cold and they wear a mask. Very considerate of their neighbors, unlike Americans.

I wrote this a couple of years ago about people on their cellphones and feel it applies here just the same.

I recently found myself in a room with a group of complete strangers. Each one glued to their cell phones, I noticed I was making a snap judgment about them. Sometimes the judgment was warm and appreciative to where I don't have to feel awkward. But more often, it was of the "Geez, what a vacuum tube these people are" variety. At first, I was troubled by this ugly mental reflex. But then I was hit with a flash of insight. As I gazed around the room I realized that if each person was animated by the same energy -- call it God, call it carbon-based, chemical doowhackies -- then each person was essentially life doing the best that it can. Suddenly my judgments were replaced by a pervasive feeling of love. Emboldened by my epiphany, I meditated upon a friend with whom I'd recently had difficult relations. I visualized this person not as an arrogant prig, but as "life doing the best that it can." Which is when my insight grew deeper. I now believe that the ability to suspend judgment and flow love works really well with complete strangers. Especially when I finally stepped outside to a couple of waiting customers who were not on their cellphones and started talking about what a beautiful day it was. The 45-minute wait at Discount tire was delightful. There was even a hug exchanged once I had to leave. Who knows, I may have even made a new friend. ❤️

Ross shopper Tuesday, female 50+ so snotty that she was constantly wiping her nose with the well-used and saturated looking snot rag in her hand. EWWW! What is wrong with some people? Go home, stay home!! She had the mask, but not wearing it because her nose was too snottyEmoticon. Seriously...words from her mouth. Rude. The other two nitwits with her had their masks in their hands.

I typically never wear a mask anywhere I go. I'm not that afraid of the virus and I'm a healthy individual that isn't getting anyone else sick. The mask signals control over the population. If you buy masks from a store there is typically a label on it that says "USA: This is not an FDA-approved product. This product makes no claims of antimicrobial protection, antiviral protection, particulate filtration or infection prevention or reduction", so what's the point?

Has anyone dropped dead from wearing a mask? I just don't understand the logic of the widespread refusal. If a business requires a mask for entry, be respectful and just wear one. If others feel more comfortable in public with masks on those in their space, be respectful and just wear one. It's not that difficult.

Seems silly to not wear one just because "you don't have to."

@Andi7 : Yes, I always wear to mask. If store is over crowded, I don't go in. I don't forget my mask and if I did I have surgical masks in my glove box. Yes, I social distance as most place I go have dots on the floor to stand on.

I follow Dr. Peter Hotez from Baylor TMC suggests regarding the CV19. He has been spot-on with his warnings. Buckle up, these next few months are going to be back.

I have worn mine each time I've entered a building, never outside as I've not been in a situation that called for it. I personally have no issue with the mask (although I don't have to wear it for long periods of time), I wear it to be respectful of business guidelines and others around me, and there are times that I've just felt better wearing it. I can't recall the last building I went into that didn't require a mask, and I can only think of one or two folks I've seen indoors recently without one. Haven't witnessed any altercations out in public yet. Anyway now that it's getting colder, I think people won't be as irritated with them. I know when I was in Colorado last month I was happy to have mine at night.

@Andi7 : I wear a mask, but I have, on occasion, walked through the parking lot only to realize that I needed to go back to my vehicle to get a mask. I wear the mask to be considerate to others because I know they don't need my cooties (lol). I keep a large stash of homemade masks in the car. It may not be fun to wear a mask, but I must say that I have had a blast making masks that coordinate with my outfits (😂). I also enjoyed making masks by the dozens and giving them away for free when there were no masks to be found. And, yes, I try to stay 6 feet away from people when possible. We still don't eat in restaurants. If we get the food to go if we decide on restaurant food. And, no, I do not confront anyone about them not wearing a mask or about it being below their nose. I just try to distance myself from them, that is all. I may be long in the tooth, but I am not Mrs. Kravitz on that old tv series called "Bewitched." (At least I hope not)! 🤣 lol

@Andi7 : I don't use my cell while in stores except for my shopping list.

When I worked at Walmart, I said we should have a kill switch to disable phones in the check out lines. People stay on the phone while they check out and then start digging through their bags wanting a price check. When they are still on the phone, they demand an item(s) be deleted. Guess what transaction is done and they have to go to Customer Service (long line) to get a credit.

One lady had forgotten her wallet in the car. She was on the phone and yelling for me to wait for her to run to her car. I suspended her order and handled her the order bar code for when she returned. She was **** that she would have a stand in line again.....she was in a hurry. She got attitude and I just said my other customers are in a hurry and shouldn't have to wait for her. She came back ON HER PHONE and had to stand in line. Too bad she didn't forget the cell in the car and brought her wallet.

I also hated hearing their 'Oh no he didn't' calls. Those damn bluetooths.......you think they are talking to you......nope they are on the phone. So annoying and rude!!

My reasons for wearing a mask in public:
I don't want to get sick.
I love my family.
I care about my fellow citizens.
People don't always know if they are carrying the virus.
It's for the good of my country.
It's not a big deal to be kind.
