Have you been tested for covid 19?
Wife started showing symptoms Tuesday morning. I have no symptoms. Wife did the online screening today. I took her to the Baytown drive thru testing place this afternoon. Not crowded at all. I seen about four other cars. Drive up to first tent. Leave windows up. Show id. They said I should also be tested. Drive to next tent. Leave windows up. Show id. They put a swab and tube on a cart next to window and walk to front of car. Open window and get stuff. Close window. They then give you instructions from front of car. Swab both nostrils and put in tube. Open window and put tube on cart. Pick up papers and leave. We were there less than ten minutes. They will call with results in 3-5 days.

I was tested 2 weeks ago when i had fever. I did the blood test (pricked a finger) and had negative results texted to me in 15 minutes. I was pretty sick for several days, and I now think maybe I did have it. The Abbott blood tests are reportedly 30% inaccurate. Or I was just the unlucky person that managed to get the flu during a pandemic.

@TheBoz :
I heard that it was really unpleasant, the swab goes way up into your sinus cavity...was it that test, or a different one? I'd have a bit of trouble doing that to myself... ; )

@AtascocitaDotCom : The person giving the instructions (from the front of the car) watched the swab go into the nostrils and told me when to stop. She then said to swab around nostril twice and then leave it in for about 15 seconds. She was counting on one hand and I think she did her fingers 3 times. Did same swab in both nostrils. The swab was far up my nose, but not in the sinus cavity. It was not unpleasant.

I've read that the initial swab process was found to be more intense than necessary and the process has been relaxed since.

@HumbleGirl : I hope so. I would hate to think we did it wrong and wont get a true result.

@TheBoz : Even if you do get a true result it's good for one day if negative. We can't test everyone for days on end.

@HumbleGirl : the false negatives are if the samples are stored in viral media for testing later. And for the swab test. Blood test is good.

@ParksideRes : That's what ABBOTT claims. However, others state otherwise and some facilities have stopped using the test.

@HumbleGirl : what I'm getting at is you said you were blood tested. The Abbott test is nasal swab.
