chasinghosts : I don't mean to sound as though I'm griping, but they are claiming that you can wash items to kill the virus. ...just saying. If it were me (as someone who would actually protect themselves) I would not change the mask. Once it's in place, leave it in place. If you are protecting yourself from possible contaminated air then removing your mask to install another one basically defeats the purpose. Gowns can be washed. Gloves ...change OFTEN! I don't mind paying $0.05 more in taxes to help protect health care employees. I just hope they aren't spending $5.00 on something that they should be spending $0.50 on. I've seen a few of the medical transactions. They are profitable!

@DiverDude : Yes they are expensive. The problem with keeping the masks on (the regular one not E95's), is that they don't keep droplets out so the Dr.'s and other health professionals are constantly breathing them in. The more often they change them the less they themselves are contaminated.

@chasinghosts : Maybe I'm confused. I thought it was an N95, which refers to oil chemicals? If so, please educate me. I would hope that they are not using dust masks?

Either way, Star Wars has it figured out! LOL

What is an N95 filtering facepiece respirator (FFR)?

An N95 FFR is a type of respirator which removes particles from the air that are breathed through it. These respirators filter out at least 95% of very small (0.3 micron) particles. N95 FFRs are capable of filtering out all types of particles, including bacteria and viruses.

@DiverDude : Probably is N-95, I may be confused & I am pretty wiped out here. I do love that red mask. Looks washable too.

@chasinghosts : I think the one on the bottom right has a fold down that is either for sleeping, or it's a personal monitor for texting or video games. But the red one does appear to be the easiest to wash.

@carol888: Thanks. I did know the details of the N95. I thought maybe the E would be something medical related that I was not aware of. I actually have some P100 masks laying around for doing painting projects. They work great but are much heavier. I know they also have the ones for surgeons , which don't really appear to be that helpful to me being that they are open on the sides. But I'm not surgeon. LOL Obviously they do what they are intended to being that surgeons use them.

@DiverDude : You should offer them to a nurse or small clinic in your area, even if they are open they could sterilize them by ziplock or whatever.

@carol888 : They are intended for short length usage. Not because they are heavy but because the filters are small. They do sell them now with larger filters, but mine are old. (which is how I acquired them - replaced inventory)They still work pretty good for my intentions, but I wouldn't wear it for any more than an hour.
But if anyone needs to borrow it... I don't expect that I have any big painting projects in the near future. At least not any that I can't use a smaller mask for.
I also have a plethora of headphones, but that doesn't help in the current situation. Although my nephew used a pair so he could concentrate for school work.

Watching today's City of Houston conference. there is a PPE donation drive on 4/8 from 12-3 at Minute Maid. They need N95 masks, face shields, thermometers, and gowns. Maybe a few other things I missed.

@HumbleGirl : Nice to know. We handed over a case and about a half of our N95 masks we use when we paint or grind.
