@CarolS : I used to get a note and go and pick up Grandpa's tobacco. I still love that smell, cherry vanilla blend. Miss it especially now that I don't smoke anymore.
He used to give each of us a dollar bill when we would visit and we'd go to the corner store and get either penny candy or a few of their awesome chocolate eclairs.

Remember when...kids wore their house key on a string around their necks and stayed home alone. I'm fiercely independent and loved being a latchkey kid.

Remember when we only had dial up Internet and someone picking up the house phone would knock you offline.

I remember when we left at sun up and didn't return home til mom rang the dinner bell. If we tried to come home earlier mom would yell at us to get back outside and if we weren't home within minutes of the dinner bell ringing she yelled at us for not paying attention. She never worried we had been kidnapped or anything.
