lynnsgirl : I cook everything in a big Le Creuset Dutch oven pot in the oven for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours on 350. I add a package of Lipton onion soup and enough water to cover everything. Once it's done I take out the meat and the vegetables, and make a real with flour and butter. I put the Dutch oven on top of the stove and turn it on high. Add the butter and flour mixture and stir with a whisk until it reduces down and thickens. Then I serve it all together. Weathergirl5 : Sounds just like what I do with the crockpot, but then I transfer the juice to a pan on the stove and make my gravy. Yours looks delish! Reply Quote
@chasinghosts : I brown my chuck roast on both sides real good then put the roast into my slow cooker . I then put 2 packs of Lipton Onion soup mix to 1 cup of water & 1 can of cream of mushroom soup . I mix it all up in the pot with the roast drippings & pour all of that over the top of the roast in the slow cooker . Then add your potato chunks & carrots & a little chopped celery . Cook in the slow cooker for 8 to 10 hrs . Don't be lifting your lid a bunch because you loose a lot of heat . I flip my roast over about half way through cooking it . I also salt & pepper my roast & rub it into the meat & stuff the roast with a bunch of garlic before I brown it . I fix both ways . Sometimes I fix without the mushroom soup . Sometimes I put celery soup This is so easy & makes bunches of gravy . Us Cajuns like our rice & gravy. This is really good !!!
******** You don't( have to brown) your roast first it will be delicious if you brown it or if you don't brown it !.
