@cador : Not sure if you had a modern POS like most chains do, but it's just programming on the backend by management.
And if you decided to ONLY offer a Deluxe Hamburger with Bacon, Avocado, and feta cheese, and then charge me to substitute American for the feta? Where is your increased cost? And further, you used to have just a plain burger for say $5 but now I have to pay $10 for the Deluxe Burger and have everything left off. I am eating the same thing but my cost doubled. And, because I left everything off which means you can sell it to the next guy, you've increased your profit by padding your menu and your pockets.
Or, let's make the bowl of gravy we give you smaller, and then charge you when you need more? It's a racket!
I'm not talking about "chingy" things - it's the things over time I've seen restaurants do. Such as the new thing down here of charging extra for a to go order.
Remember when in the cost of your Domino's Pizza, delivery was included in the price? Now it's $3 and the tip has gone up from back in the day! And the driver doesn't even get the delivery fee!
And again, if I substitute one thing for another like item, why charge me like I was getting both.
It doesn't make sense!
