@Rockets There was no DNA from what I remember and I think their family all lived out of town. I hate that this is still open, as that means they're still out there. There has to be similar MO's on some of the crimes going on and yet nothing. If they used a random item to kill them like they did (dumbbells or barbells) then they might use something else they see close like a lamp or flashlight. I hope the police are looking at that.

I think the detectives are just waiting to turn it over to the Cold Case Department, which may bea good thing - they will have more personnel to investigate the crime. You would thing that $20,000.00 Crime Stoppers Reward would bring forth some good tips. And I don't understand why none of the relatives in Houston were interviewed.

@gerryschultz I know how you feel. We have a situation that is somewhat similar. But we know there is a person that is responsible but no evidence to prove it, that one couldn't poke holes in. So while she's living life...we are left with the how come.

@yomom Wow! That is so sad! Hopefully these guilty persons can't get these horrible crime scenes out of their minds, can't sleep, and have nightmares when they do. Hope the Cold Case Department works diligently until these crimes are solved SOON!!!

I thought this was a murder-suicide?? Could have sworn I read if somewhere. I couldn't imagine putting my grandmother to rest after such brutality was imposed on the pair. My heart and prayers go out to the family of these two poor souls. There's gonna be a lot of time and effort that goes into healing what these low life's have done to this family!!

@Nhendrix I don't recall ever seeing anything about murder-suicide. Perhaps I missed an early news report or something, but as far back as I can remember it was clear they were both brutally murdered. Personally, I am looking forward to the day that those responsible are found, tried and convicted. You cannot hide forever.

@lana7018: ... but you can hide for a long time apparently. I have often thought of the 1991 murder of Roxyann Allee that is still unsolved... and she was a Harris County Deputy!! She was off-duty and was leaving "Gunspoint" Mall. You would think HCSO Cold Case would really be trying to solve the murder of one of their own!!

@TheCatsMeow You look at these pictures & they just look like the sweetest people ! I think about them often & wonder if the police are any closer to solving this .I hope any family members will see justice .

@gerryschultz That seems strange , I'd think they would have spoken & recorded their conversations with all family members .I have seen on TV how years & years after a crime they come back & ask the people they have already spoken with the same questions . Then I have seen how a person changes their story & it ends up being a got you moment sometimes .

DEFINITELY not a murder suicide. They were brutally murdered.
