Thank you so much for your kind words! And I believe everything you said to be true. I think they knew the killer - I don't believe they went there with plans to kill them - they didn't even take a weapon - but something went wrong, and they got mad and brutally killed them. I don't think much was stolen from the house - a computer was not taken and their Lexus was still in the garage. Don't believe any credit cards have been used. It just doesn't make sense! I just hope it isn't a relative - how sad that would be! Again, thank you and I hope your Mom feels better soon!

Oh Sweetheart - I just cannot imagine. My heart aches every time I drive down the Shores/Kings Point to go to Kingwood. (We live in the area as well). My parents are/were that age and it sickens me to my soul. I am so sorry. And I hope my surmising doesn't dredge up any horrid thoughts. But yes, the facts just don't add up - someone was upset about something. I just hope and pray your cousins didn't suffer.

After re-reading the obituary, I see Mr. Rentz was a stockbroker - maybe that is the direction that should be looked into - his relationships with clients that maybe didn't get what they thought was theirs or something? May be a long shot, but you never know... Money is the root of all evil. Much prayer and hope for the family.

And thank you for thinking of my Mom during this time.

Yes, Don was a stockbroker for many years and we have discussed the fact that someone he dealt with may have lost money and this could have been a reason for the murder. I guess the detectives were aware of this - they never interviewed me or any of our relatives in Houston. Maybe someone went to their home to borrow money and was turned down, got angry and lashed out with either weights (as we were told) or lamps (that were taken out of the home by detectives). It seemed to be a vicious murder by someone that was very angry - if it was just a robbery, you would think they would take a weapon with them. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! It would be very sad if it turned out to be a friend or even a relative. Thank you for your kind words and concern for our family - it is greatly appreciated!

This is what I would start with IF I was a detective.

1. Phone records for the past 3 to 6 months. Interview every person, they must of been in contact with the intruder.
2. Bank records. Any unusual deposits for large amounts. Interview for the same.
3. Visit the places they did volunteer work and ask questions. You never know, something might pop up.
4. Ask relatives how were their relationship with ALL family members. No one is perfect and I am sure someone did not get along etc. Look at the signs when you interview them. If they hesitate or don't look you in the eye to answer a question. RED FLAG.

Just my thoughts................................

Again, not to sound ugly but do you not think detectives do this? Really? If they didn't do these basic things they would never solve a crime one. People don't pull out their ID hold it up to the camera while they are shooting someone. Give the LEO's a little credit.

It all depends what type of resources they have at the time.

Just looking at the picture makes me want to cry . They just look like the sweetest people . She looks like someone that would tell a neighbor hey come on in I'm about to take an apple pie out of the oven & coffee is ready !!! Looks like the kind of folks we all pray to have as a neighbor . I hope someone is caught soon ! . Maybe fresh eyes looking at this case would take it in another direction .I saw on Tv where a 20 yr old case was taken on by a new young person that noticed something nobody else had & was able to solve it . Eventually this will get solved .

These are excellent questions that the detectives should have looked into. The first three questions may have been discussed with Reda and Don's daughters - I'm not sure! And as far as the fourth question - all I know is that they did not interview me or any of the relatives in the Houston area. Both daughters live out of town. When I email or text the detectives and Jeff McShan of Crime Stoppers, they just say that they can't give me any details of the crime, BUT THAT THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING!!!!! IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING! SUCH A HELPLESS FEELING!!! Thank you so much for your ideas and input - it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your kind words. And, yes, Reda was the sweetest, most thoughtful person I have ever known. She was always ready to help ANYONE in any way she could. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone! She was the one all of our family turned to when they needed someone to pray for them.

Reda was my cousin, but was more like a sister - I miss her every day. I could always count on her to give me good advice or to pray for me when I had problems. Don was a character - he liked to tease everyone and had a dry sense of humor. Even though they were in their 80's, they were young at heart - they did not deserve such a cruel death. Thank you very much for your comments. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers!

And there is the reason with extended family we need to make sure & tell them we love them . You never know when your seeing a person for the last time .I constantly tell my husband, children & grandchildren . I grew up in a small town in La & everybody in my family we were always kissing & hugging each other . Close to our extended family . I tell my friends I love them also .All of my grandparents aunts & uncles on both sides are dead . Our family has grown so small now .I have some great memories . I had a girl cousin that grew up about 8 miles from me & we were real close .i just couldn't believe when she died of brain cancer in 2001. I feel your pain .

Reda volunteered at The Mission, where I worked. I got to see her every week, and she was a sweet and kind lady. She always had a smile and gave a caring hand to all that she helped. I will keep her smile with me always.

They probably know more than they are saying but don't have enough evidence to prove it. There's a theory I'm sure. Unfortunately patience isn't fair in this situation. I pray for a conclusion and pray for their family.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Maybe if this gets turned over to the Cold Case Department, more personnel will be able to work on it. I know for a fact that some membes of the family were not interviewed and I just don't understand why not! Thank you for your prayers - they are greatly appreciated!
