As the board had the foresight to be aware of her baggage; they should have also been expecting a response and been prepared to address appropriately. We will see in the coming days how well they prepared to the response.
@redneck roy :
Good morning! And I'm very happy to report that today is a great day thanks to last night's Board meeting. First, our Board approved our 2016-17 Compensation Plan! After a number of months of workshop and committee meetings, careful analysis of our current and projected fiscal condition, and review of our market analysis of salaries, our Board again demonstrated their commitment to all of us!
While many area school districts are planning salary increases below 3%, our Board is awarding an average 3.5% pay increase to teachers, nurses, librarians, and speech therapy assistants, with a starting salary of $52,300. Full-time Teachers returning next year will receive a $1,800 to $1,900 salary increase in concert with the TASB Compensation Study recommendations. The average pay increase for other professional staff and administrative staff is 3%, and for auxiliary/classified staff is 4%. From my perspective, we continue to be very blessed to get to work for a very child focused and staff supportive Board of Trustees!
Also last night, our Board voted unanimously to name Dr. Elizabeth Fagen as our next Superintendent of Schools! I'm thrilled that she will be following me as she is a true Leader for Learning! I state that fully knowing of the unfortunate and in my view, unfounded posts from out of state on our district Facebook page. I also know that none of the nearly two-hundred posts from a district population of three-hundred thousand people came as a surprise.
I know and completely trust our Board members. I know and have worked closely with the three superintendent search consultants that assisted our Board. They all exhaustively checked and vetted all three finalists. They have chosen the best candidate to lead our family and build on the culture we have established.
I also know my assessment and trust my judgment. Liz is an outstanding and very accomplished educational leader. She researched our family well and understands who we are and what we value. Her passion is educating the whole child. Her responsibility, in leading the 67,000 student Douglas County School District since 2010 and prior to that, the Tucson Unified School District in Arizona, has been to further the policy decisions of those respective Boards. She will further the policy decisions made by our Board. I know that Liz's family is excited about joining Humble ISD and having her children attend our schools. I'm personally very excited to welcome Liz to our family and work closely with her through the transition!
We are the BEST Large School District in Texas and it's only going to get better going forward!
Thank YOU for your truly amazing work with and for all of our students! Believe me, it's noticed nation-wide!
Thanks!
Guy
