So seriously...who here would rent their home to complete strangers during SBLI weekend? There was a woman on the news this morning who has already offered her Montrose area home for $3500/night.

Would you?

I just couldn't do it. No way.

Some closer to downtown will stay in a motel for the weekend for a couple hundred dollars and rent the house for a couple thousand dollars. If it your thing sounds like a good thing. Agree not my thing. I work for a car rental co. and will be looking for some overtime delivering cars to hotels.

Airbnb is a website for people to list, find, and rent lodging. It has over 1,500,000 listings in 34,000 cities and 190 countries Since the Bay area is so expensive they demand much higher prices and many people do it! I have a niece that rents a house for $3800 no central a/c or heat, 3 bedroom 2 bath

I have read articles about people renting out tents in their backyard for $1,000 a month in the Bay area. Seriously. The occupants of the main house are "kind" enough to allow the tenant to use the main restroom during certain hours of the day. I wonder where they have to "go" during those other hours of the day?

Prices are crazy. My parents sold their house, and moved to Arizona about 10 years ago. It was the house I grew up in, was built in the late 60's, about 1,200 square feet, 1 full bathroom and one half bath, 3 bedroom for $750,000. I think they paid $50,000 for it in the 70's.

My parents house (bought 31 years ago for 250,000+) is now worth 2 1/2 million roughly and will be torn down if we ever sale it...

It's crazy that in the Bay Area, that million dollar homes are considered "fixer uppers", and some homes worth millions will actually be worth more if torn down. Crazy crazy world. I love San Francisco, but will never be able to live there again.
