@Heathur The "shield" has primarily been used on the ACIA-related threads. I've never seen it used on any other thread/topic. Basically, any thread with the shield can't be viewed by the public without creating an account/logging in. Similarly, every user now has the option to change their settings to ignore any of those controversial threads (as indicated by the yellow shield).I think the shield comment on this thread was tongue-in-cheek.

This person who's been referred to as some amazing, positive role model- is anything but in our household. I take it you're a Beyoncé fan, Beach? How would you feel about a country artist singing about taking pride in southern, confederate roots with dancers sporting hoods & sheets backing them up AT THE SUPER BOWL? Would you say that's an appropriate platform for an artist like that *in your opinion?*

The NFL can ban her just like they did Hank Williams Jr. I personally did not find it offensive. I looked at the performance totally different and didnt link the 2 together. At no time did i feel like it was some black power movement. That was just me. Agreed super bowl or football should not be a platform for any nonsense. Ban her and move on. But to say her song should be banned or the video is just silly. Freedom of speech whether you like it, or not.

@Heathur :She is never going to be a role model for my household nor will any other entertainer. I provide the positive example for my children. My kids dont listen to her music as I control my household. This song clearly was not made for children as there is a warning on it. Now b has done great things for girls and provided inspiration, but again she is no role model. If my kids are looking for a role model other than me, they best open a bible.

Okay I tapped out on this damn thread but it tries to suck me back in.Please stop with the whole position that if someone is against police abuse then they are against the police. That is akin to saying being against child abuse is being anti-parents.It was a football halftime performance. It caught our attention and had people talking about it. That's what it supposed to do.

I too am against abuse. Of any kind.When it comes to our law enforcers, I'm not for people that are told to stand down, and they don't. The situations our law enforcement are put in on a daily basis reeks of ill will, on the most part. They have seconds to determine if they will be shot, rushed at with a weapon, etc. sometimes they get it wrong. Most times, they are spot on. Any "entertainer" that upholds the view that the very folks that guard us from daily harm are bad does not deserve my money. I don't care how appealing they try to make themselves. Enjoy your burgers and red lobster.

I saw the video prior to the game. It told a story. It was artistically really well done.
I was surprised that she would tell that story at the SB. Also, not being prude at all but why why why must the ladies always feel they need to have the booty shaking and hanging out to be sexy? Little girls think they need to dress this way to be hip and cool and little boys probably expect that all girls will be/look like that. And I am not conservative.
