It would legalize racial profiling and arrests without evidence.

@TortieMama: I am not in favor of me being arrested as I am walking down the street because someone suspects me of being illegal. Are you ok with being randomly arrested just so they can catch a few illegals without proof?

@Rosey : If you are asked for ID, you show them. If you do not have proof that you are here legally, you get detained, possibly arrested and deported. That is how the law works.

The GOP has digressed to the point where - when they want to do something, it isn't about following the law, or changing the law - or validating legality (or constitutionality). It is about doing it and browbeating judges to be blind to it - or attack them as activist - or a number of other things.

@TortieMama :
Driver's licenses do not prove citizenship. So, I hope you're carrying your passport with you every day.
And if you don't believe me, a simple google search will tell you that. I now carry my passport card with me, in addition to my driver's license.

@TortieMama :
Everyone has a reason to worry.
www.propublica.org/a rticle/immigration-d hs-american-citizens -arrested-detai
And it's not even new. This report from The US Government Accountability Office found this was a problem, even back in 2021, before the large scale immigration sweeps. www.gao.gov/products /gao-21-487
And here is a December 9, 2025
United States Senate | Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations report on their findings: www.hsgac.senate.gov /wp-content/uploads/ 2025.12.8_ICE-Report -revised-FINAL. If all of that is too much for you to read, here let me show you some salient points in that report:
"Federal immigration agents have routinely used excessive force resulting in injuries
to the citizens they have detained.
According to DHS guidance, ICE and CBP officials are required to carry out their raids using only force "that is objectively reasonable in light of the facts and circumstances," a requirement that has been enforced by courts.15 The Subcommittee's inquiry shows that
ICE and CBP officials are routinely (and often seemingly deliberately) violating these
requirements. Among the U.S. citizens interviewed by the Subcommittee were:
o Marimar Martinez, who was shot five times by CBP officers and initially released
from the hospital into law enforcement custody after only two hours. Authorities
had to return her to the hospital later that day due to profuse bleeding from her
wounds;
o Arnoldo Carrillo, who was grabbed by his throat by a masked agent when they
stormed his house at 6:10 a.m. while other agents dragged him outside, was told
"if you resist, we will shoot you," and, as a result, explained "I thought I was going
to lose my life that day;"
o Rafie Ollah Shouhed, who was told by an agent about his multiple broken ribs
"[t]his is what happens when you **** with ICE;"
o Julian Cardenas, who had an agent slam his head into the ground, giving him a
concussion."
I am a natural red head, of German/Scottish descent, and am so pale I glow in the dark. But when you see some of these people that have been detained, you'll realize that doesn't matter.

Don't ya all wish Biden had closed the borders and not let all those people come into our country? Everything would be better had he done so.
