But someone IS telling you who can live in your home! It would be the developer of your subdivision. When you bought your home in that subdivision you agreed to abide by the "developers rules". If you don't like those rules you go buy a lot out in the country and make up your own rules. You can have 100 people live with you, a goat, two cows, a couple of pigs and a pink house with a statue of your favorite football player in the front yard. You can do just about anything you want.
So why would someone who feels like you do ever sign some stupid contract in some subdivision that some developer made up some crazy rules that you do not want to follow? So, a board can tell me what color I can or cannot paint my house but they cannot stop a single family residence from being used as a rental complex?
I notice you actually know a lot of your neighbors. You know who lives where and who has what kids and what they drive and who has grown kids with spouses and, wow that is exhausting to know everyones business. But at least you know that it is family members that actually live as a family and not a group of people who only have in common the fact that they all rent a room in the same house.
