@EddyFree:

Whether you or I would pay to see the movie due to the content was never the issue. The theater companies were not going to risk empty theaters due to the threat of some sort of attack. Sony is simply trying to save face...they even said they would release it in the Spring when the fed investigation has concluded.

Real question is what is O going to do assuming there is certainty of the source of the terrorist cyber-attack. US assets are US assets no matter if they are buildings,land, or data. Retaliation should be swift and impactful.

I bet O's response will be to open up an embassy in Pyongyang and start trading with the North Koreans again... Just like with Cuba...

Our govt leaks like a siv...if something has happened it would be all over the news...quite frankly in this instance it should be to help establish proper deterrence from future attacks. I have spent the last 15 years working in the security software and data protection space and fully understand the risks associated with today's online world. There are vulnerabilities everywhere but those that choose to exploit them, whether for profit or fear must pay a severe price.

wondering what severe/swift penalties must be imposed on the most heavily sanctioned country in the world - one that we have technically been at war with for over 60 years - we cannot even halt their nuclear program; but let them hack the computers of a Japanese conglomerate - and it mandates swift and supreme justice?

less fuss has been made over China hacking our national security.

We would be a safer and more secure country, in my personal opinion, if we weren't informed on what the government is doing in some cases. I see no need to tell our enemies what our plans are or are not, just so the public stays informed of everything. I would rather the worlds bad guys stay scared shitless on how they might be disappeared in the middle of the night and end up in a CIA black ops prison on some mountaintop in whogivesacrapiztan. However, on the flip side of that, we can't seem to trust our own government not to spy on all of us in the same name of security. That is a form of government secrecy that will lead to evil from within. None of us can accept that. What truly scares me there is the average citizen who says if you aren't doing anything wrong then who cares what they are listening to or looking at. That mindset will lead the sheeple to the wolves for sure.

Okay I am writing to Sony and AMC demanding they bring this movie so I could go and see it. I have 20 workers right now sending the same request.

interesting article yesterday from Sony exec. Sounds like they fully intend to release movie - they just have to have a distributor.
