You guys do know that Kim Un is an oppressive dictator who starves Korean citizens and murders those who oppose him? Right....i mean we really aren't talking about a legitimate leader deserving of respect. This all a joke right?

"This is all a joke, right?"

@Faurkabe67

I understand the movie is a comedy - I cannot think of anything about conditions in North Korea that would make me laugh.

I am shocked at so many people on this board cowering and saying why make this movie in the first place! How about, because we have the constitutional right to make anything we want. Great, good, or trash. It doesn't matter what it is or who likes it or doesn't like it, the right to make it is what makes this country ours. What's next? Why make westerns with Indians in them, that's offensive to them. Why write books that are less than flattering to people, that's offensive to them. Why do we allow protestors to burn the flag, that's offensive. If I saw someone burning an American flag I know they have the right to, and that is the only reason they don't get smacked in the face. When you allow someone, anyone, to make a decision on what is acceptable ands what isn't based on who it is going to offend, then everything becomes suspect and up for discussion and elimination. You folks are contributing to the demise of this country one piece at a time.

Offensive pro football names led to the removal of high school mascots and team names that have been around for generations. When the hell did it become a crime, or a major social event, when someone - anyone becomes offended! This is going to get out of control and everything will be bland, boring, uneventful, and we will be controlled at the will of the one person in charge - for the good of the people. This is how it starts folks.

Sony's answer should have been, **** off North Korea, and the government should have stated clearly that if one thing happens we will bomb your **** back into the stone age. I will leave this conversation with this tried and true quote;

Weakness is provocative. It encourages others to act in ways they normally would not.

I certainly do not expect any movie company to carry the torch of freedom...but I can just imagine now, if another Passion of the Christ were made...and ISIS threatened it's release. What have we been reduced to? Is America going to fall to cyber bullies?

Hmmmm....Maybe Sony should have just hired Dennis Rodman to go back over there and clear all this up?...

But seriously, I heard about this on the news and couldn't help but think:

OK, Sony makes a movie that offends someone...They retaliate by hacking into Sony's computers...Sony cancels said movie...

How does this really affect me at all? After a few seconds of intense thought, I gave up....I seriously doubt I would have even watched the movie in the first place...So, it's really not even newsworthy in my opinion...I think the media is trying to work this one into a frenzy because of the players...

Maybe they should just make a movie about a large company (like Sony) caving to a 3rd world dictator (like Kim) over content issues instead...
