Mac - your sources could use some fact checking......

well - that really isn't there strong suit - as long as people keep tuning in.....

Anyway - I understand we should bomb ISIS back to the stone age - I think that is a pretty swell idea - should we just tack that on to the 20T deficit; or try to pay for it?

should we go it alone - or try to put together a coalition

Since they really don't have sovereign territory with identifiable borders; is this a wr that can be fought mainly from the air; or even from the ground easily; and if we fight on the ground - we really cant stop at the Syrian border - what about the Turkish border - How many countries will we have to declare war on to isolate and defeat ISIS.

Although I think Obama should be much more defined on his agenda - I am somewhat please he isn't taking the bomb now - and figure out the repercussions later approach.

BTW - the iraqi withdrawal timeline was put in place under the previous admin and enforced by the Iraqi gov't - the Iraqi Gov't wanted us to leave.

I agree with previous poster - If you are so fired up about going to war - put some skin in the game. Don't be so willing to send your neighbors kids off to die in a foreign country without a damn good reason - and we have nothing to lose by spending a few months to develop a plan..... just my 2C

Obama is weak on foreign policy.Fair enough whose boots will be on the ground?Yours, your children's?
Will you invade Syria- to destroy IS you will have to.
Just go in and bowl them all over. You will then have to be prepared for a prolonged guerrilla campaign against Shiites, Alawites and radical Sunnis.
What will be the cost in American blood?-Will you pay?
The cost of the conflict- what will that do to our fiscal position?

IS will have to be dealt with. They are a menace to all civilized people.A coalition of nations is the best way to do this.
Let the locals lead and give them support-Air support, equipment and "military advisers"(wink wink)

Clear out Iraq and then work on Syria. We may have to hold our noses on this one and deal with some unsavory characters
Remember the Marine barracks in Beirut.President Reagan was wise enough to stay his hand and not become embroiled in that quagmire.

We might as well accept it now, with this admins hasty withdraw from Iraq before they were actually ready to defend themselves ( against every military advisors opinion ) we will be headed back to Iraq to confront ISIL/ISIS......

It will not happen under Obama, because that would admit a mistake but trust me, we are heading back there in the next few years. They are at our doorstep now, and the King of Saudi Arabia has alread warned us......

This is what happens when you are more concerned with a specific date of withdraw being accomplished then actually making the country secure before leaving................

My how quickly we forget !!! In April 2007 ( CONGRESS PASSED ) a supplementary spending bill for Iraq that SET A DEADLINE FOR TROUP WITHDRAWAL BUT PRES BUSH VETOED THIS BILL . The Bush administration later sought an agreement with the Iraq Government ( & in 2008) GW BUSH SIGNED THE US IRAQ STATUS FORCES AGREEMENT . ( IT INCLUDED A DEADLINE OF 31 DEC 2011 ) before which ( ALL ) The UNITED STATES FORCES SHALL WITHDRAW FROM IRAQI TERRITORY !!!!!! THE LAST U S TROOPS LEFT IRAQ ON DEC 18 2011 IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS AGREEMENT !!!!!!! So I was sorta thinking was it Bush that left too early ???? Because under Obama the US Forces ultimately ( RETURNED ) to Iraq in summer 2014. AFTER ALL LITTLE GEORGE DID PULL THEM OUT IN 2011 MAYBE THAT IS THE HASTY WITHDRAW YOU SPEAK OF & IT WAS PRESIDENT OBAMA THAT SENT THE TROOPS BACK IN SUMMER 2014 !!!!!

You really should know what you are talking about before you say crap like that.
Until they reinstate the draft you are asked and have a chance to volunteer for military service.
I volunteered and served.
My son volunteered and is in the military right now.

Care to throw around any more BS?

The fact that you never volunteered for the armed forces doesn't make you any less patriotic than those who did - but throwing around BS - like "I will gladly go" or suggesting that someone (who is a vet) should leave America if they don't share your desire for another war - is a bit condescending..........

By the way - if your son DOES continue with his plans and joins the Air Force when he is eligible - I wish him the best - and will be thankful for his service.....

He still has a few years to think on things...

Mac why didn't you serve? I only ask this because of your posts.
Fortunately for the last 40 years we have not had a draft. The choice to serve is a personal one.
Even when the application of military force is needed you better have your ducks in a row and know what you are getting into.
George 1 had a plan ,built a coalition, made the necessary preparations and did what needed to be done;many questioned why he stopped-for that answer simply look at George 2.

It is easy to sit back and say "kill them all and let God sort them out"- in practice it is way more complicated than that.

I believe we all feel IS needs to be dealt with militarily, the question becomes how do you do that?

i never said anything like that.......

Roy I never intended for it to sound likt that.......what I am saying that this is a different world.....We are at war on terror....and unfortunately this is a war that will never end......these barbarians have been fighting for thousands of years.....and the US was brought in probably 40 years ago.......this is a never ending war......
So we better be all in.....

and Roy let me be clear....I would never disrepect anybody that I knowingly was in the military or served....and I think I have made that absolutely clear in the past....
