@Cherlytom

That's Ok but this is not a hypothetical situation.And yes I think you would definitely want to keep class size as small as reasonably possible with an equal distribution of students for each teacher who is teaching the class.
150 precalc students spread over five classes you would try to have 30 each.

It is good that we are having this discourse and now know about the issues.

Yes it is frustrating. Just give her the suggestions listed here.

BTW, what did you mean in your 5th paragraph about watching others come in and out of this class?

Can you imagine the frustration for administration trying to rejocky students, classes, teachers etc. I'm sure it can be a nightmare, thus the need to take a few weeks to get it straightened out.

@cheryltom:

5th paragraph

she see kids dropping and adding daily...this is what pisses me off!

if that is the case then bring that up with the AP and counselor. I can see if someone new comes into the school they need to find a spot for them but if these are current students and some can and some can't then raise h3ll.

Cheryltom is the only rational voice in this thread. What she says is spot-on. Parent and student need to hold themselves accountable. You screwed up. Now you are subject to the rules of the program put in place to manage the hundreds of other screw-ups and changes.
But instead of taking responsibility you want to blame everyone else. Instead of following the rules you insist on being an exception "But my child is aiming for Baylor!!!!" Well stop the world from turning - we've got a mom who says her daughter is SPECIAL.
Instead of taking responsibility for signing up for the wrong class and instead of following the program set in place to help people fix their mistakes the example you set is to blame everyone but yourself, "raise hell", insist on being treated as special, introduce to the conversation past acts of violence.....

@GregButtle:

First, introducing past acts was a reference! One which has absolutely nothing to do with my child!!! Go back and read the last line of that please!!!

Also, I know I thanked cheryltom for everything!

As for accountability you know nothing about me and mine so why don't you put a JMO behind your comments? As a matter of fact, I did admit her accountability in my response to the Principal!

It is apparent to me that you intended to offend me and I want you to know you did not succeed!

As a matter of fact, you came on here without any help to solve this problem so why did you even comment beside the fact that you can?

Have a great day!

So the school places the student in the class which she does not have a prerequisite for,and you think it is not responsible for that rule violation?
So only students and parents are responsible and the admins at the school are not?
Both the student and parent have taken responsibility, but I have not seen that the school has-Double standard for you.And are other students being allowed to change,I think I read that so now you need to post about how that is a rule violation.The reference to Baylor was I think to let people know the student was motivated.( top ten percent ).
If students are enrolling in classes that they do not have the required prerequisite for, the system is broken and needs to be fixed.A responsible group of admins would do this.Also as I have already said countless times, just give the student the syllabus and textbook for the class she will end up in and let her work on her own so she keeps up with the class- common sense .

I would suggest waiting it out and letting it be a learning lesson for your girl. It's hard to let our children suffer their consequences or to learn that life isn't fair or logical sometimes and sometimes ya gotta make lemonade out of lemons. Sometimes we just have to follow the rules and understand that there is a reason they are in place although we might not see it clearly. We can certainly vent about it, but fighting the school about something on the smaller side may not be the best thing. Everyone is human, grudges can be held, etc. one would never want something like this to be the tipping point in making a more impactful decision about a child later down the road. Our children can get the reputation of "has cray cray mama". Lol!

I signed up for physics my senior year. We only needed 3 science credits which I had and did not need Physics. Day one I was completely lost, hated it, I was on level for math so I didn't even have the math skills needed for the science. I decided to drop it and take early release. Since it was a morning class, I had to keep attending a couple weeks until my schedule could be shifted around so that I had my open period at the end of the day. That was at good ole HHS in the 90s. My mom didn't step in despite my b*ing and moaning, I survived, graduated 26 out of 550. Without the skill of Physics. Emoticon

HG, I respect your opinion probably a lot more than you realize! With this said, this is exactly what I'm doing. I have already Professionally told the principal what my thoughts were and he professionally told me she will stay.

As for going live....I have a hefty sense of humor and I would never and I do mean never do anything to embarrass or hinder my child.

As for reference to my "violent" past, that was among friends I have made here. No more no less. Again, I did explain my kids know nothing about it.

As for the system I support the fact that it is broken. As for her learning a lesson yes I agree she will always remember this; however, I still encourage her to take chances bc some will pay off some will not. At this time, this one obviously did not

As for the Baylor comment, I said that only to stress the fact that she is top 10 0/0 and striving for Baylor. Do I think she is special of course I do I'm her mom.

As for Cheryltom , I find her advice or experience at AHS to be very helpful. As others suggested for us to get work from the class she should be in I did take that advise. I contacted Adm., on Friday and I'm awaiting their response.

Now, I do agree with your comment about Cray Cray Moms and believe me when I say I'm not one and nor do I want to be one. There are enough of those already.

No, she didn't have prerequisite for this class; however, I still find it admirable that she took that chance instead of assuming defeat.

The end result, we shall wait and focus on what we have till the 15th. No more no less.

Very true HG

The real problem is now we all know either the system is broken or some one made a mistake.No one is perfect(except me-lol),so you apply a fix to the system or if someone made a mistake (admin) simply give the student the syllabus and textbook for the new class either way, then learn from the mistake and move on.If others are changing classes prior to the prescribed time then like some have posted that is a rule violation and should not be happening.or if it is allowed should be applied equally.Digging in by the administration is counter productive for student education.Really isn't a solid education the ultimate goal?
