Manziel never expected to start in the season opener. He admitted last week that he still had some things to work on. His numbers on Monday night were better that Hoyer's. Manziel does have some growing up to do. IMO he should have stayed in Aggieland for a couple more years. If the media would get out of his *** and leave him alone, then maybe he grow up. He does not need his every move played out in the media. The media has put a target on him by reporting every little thing that he does. I hope he does well and like @moomaw, I look forward to seeing what he will do.

He brought the media attention upon himself

No he really didn't. He is just being a regular 21 year old guy. He had a lot of fame turned towards him because of his playing skills. The media does not want to focus on that, they want to focus on what he does on his off time--which is really no one's business but his.

Oh please. Half of you have flicked someone off at the stop light, and he can't get upset in a contact sport? Someone is constantly hitting him and talking crap to him and he can't get upset, but someone doesn't drive how you think they should and it's okay? Football is a mean sport. Let the men play.

He is young and his entire life is on espn. That's a lot to take in.

Oh but NFL players cans beat their wives, sell and take drugs, and all sorts of stuff and it's alright.

Johnny is guilty of more obnoxious, outlandish, egotistical behavior than just his little finger wave. (BTW, no, I don't flip people off in traffic.)

He is a media hog, playing to the camera's every chance he get's. He's been that way for the past 2-3 years.

You can't blame the media for how he acts or for being there to record it.

You got it twisted. One of the reasons I love my Texans so doggone much is that they wouldn't even remotely consider drafting him. We got 99 problems and thank the heavens above Johnny Football ain't one of em!

(BTW - No reference to my beloved Sir Swatts Alot on the 99 thing - that's another catch phrase going about these days I was working with.....)

They didn't consider him. They LOOKED at him - big difference Mac. He was never, ever on Coach O's list of "Must Haves", "Maybe Have's, or "If there was nobody else Haves"

In the meantime it's been suggested you make the 5,000th post. (Not by me but WTH - I'll roll with it.) Keep an eye on the numbers if you want to stake your claim at 5K
