Bringing up an issue like misspelling Pinehurst destroys credibility of our posts regarding REAL issues.

That's my opinion.

I know I'm going to regret this, but what was the comment about the phishing?

phishing (ˈfɪʃɪŋ)

— n
the practice of using fraudulent e-mails and copies of legitimate websites to extract financial data from computer users for purposes of identity theft

Are you saying that the ACIA is now guilty of phishing?

"Huh?

Misspelling is a crime?

Aren't yall the ones making this public. If you didn't want it in the public, why keep posting?

Apparently it is amusing to most that keep coming to a public site to air private matters . And then get upset when things don't go your way.

Still dont understand your comments. "

No misspelling is not a crime , but Phishing is. It is prosecuted under federal wire fraud.

@happyasalark

It wasn't Astrokatz, it was Posterguy.

@Astrokatz said "trolling and phishing". Based on the context and the fact that no one has mentioned the security of financial info, I'm guessing he misused the term and meant something more similar to trolling/harrasment/internet stalking.

I'm sure @posterguy knows that too but is latching onto anything that he can spin as negative.

@HumbleGirl:

Thanks, HumbleGirl. That makes sense to me since I also noticed Astrokatz called this message board a 'blog'.

Phishing is very a specific unusually spelt word with only one meaning.

This is more of the same from you-Like telling us Eagle Springs does not post the agenda when in fact they do.

I know what phishing means it is a criminal act prosecuted under federal law as wire fraud.

@Posterguy:

In my opinion, we need to stick to the major issues here: no financial reports, members being thrown out of meetings, taking 'gifts of land', overriding ACC decisions. We have enough real issues w/o getting into the true meaning of 'phishing'.

Yes and the Atascocita Community Improvement Association board members have now added smearing people with accusations of crimes to that list.

Federal Laws

While phishing is covered under various state laws, there is no single federal statute that directly criminalizes this type of activity. However, there are broader federal criminal laws that do apply to phishing and other identity theft crimes. For example, because phishing involves solicitations that are usually sent over the Internet, the federal law against wire fraud is often used to punish phishing crime on a federal level.

Phishing has only one meaning.
