@+1: High school sweethearts who had kids after they were married and who, despite some ups and downs, have stuck together over the years and appeared to have raised pretty good kids...... That just doesn't fly in todays world.

@HumbleGirl: No surprise to me .I have not checked all these people out as a matter of fact we for the 1st time yesterday watched 3 of their shows .Not my type of show but I did get a couple of laughs out of it .Phil Robertson is an educated man with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education & a Master's in Education. The show in my ( OPINION ) portrays the opposite. They want you to think this is their life which I don't believe . They are just acting & making a bunch of money doing it & that's no different than most TV shows . Do they fish & hunt ??? I'm certain that they do but do they run around in camo clothes all day na I don't think so .We all have a right to our opinions .Phil R was 18 yrs old in 1964 when The Civil Rights Act was enacted & if he had no understanding of what was & had been done to black people at that time oh ok he didn't know . But in 1998 15 yrs ago the man was 52 yrs old when James Byrd Jr was killed . So he should have a full understanding & not make light & say black people were happy in the 1950's .

@+1: plenty of material out there to research and draw one's own conclusions. I will say that it is awesome the things the family has overcome together. This whole "scandal" is just another thing they will overcome. Hopefully with a little love and enlightenment added in on the other side.

@HumbleGirl: What is it about his & Kay's history? He has said time after time again that he wasn't a good man, until he found Jesus Christ and became born-again in the early 70's. Before that, he said that he had the devil in him... he's done lots of drinking, drugs, kicked his family out, etc. Nothing new there... he's been saying that all along. He's been preaching longer than "Duck Dynasty" has been on the air. If you think people are digging deep and finding skeletons in his closet, I don't think they'll find much, 'cuz he's already said it all.Some people may not like what he preaches... I have seen a lot of his videos and have yet to find one that I thought "yikes, here's the white equivalent of Jeremiah Wright."

Funny thing is nik.... What he said had absolutely NOTHING to do with gay rights....
It's about intolerant groups who if you don't agree with their point of view you are a bigot....It's got to stop.....

Sounds like A & E rushed to a decision to cater to a special interest group; I have to wonder how much they are trying to figure out how to crawl out from under this mess. To me - it seems like a pretty minor thing in the grand scheme of things - but a story that really grew legs.It is normal for entertainers to sign contracts which limit their "Free Speech"; seems silly to react hard every time an entertainer says something that "someone" finds offensive.

I think the whole thing is funny. Everyone fighting with friends, family, anonymous message board people over something as silly as a scripted reality TV show. People are fooling themselves if they actually think that A&E actually cares what the internets, Christians, GLAAD, or the NAACP thinks with regards to the interview. A&E is concerned about one thing and that is the almighty dollar. They are concerned about whether or not they will lose sponsors/advertisers or sell enough Duck Dynasty trinkets. This family is just a novelty to them. A means to make money. And in the end both parties will either continue to make money off each other or they split and go their separate ways. I'm sure A&E has a dozen other shows in the pipeline ready to fill that time slot that we can find a reason to fight over.
