@jfgr3026 :One of the people I was going to help approached me in a parking lot in Humble . She looked like a very skinny drug addict was my opinion . She had a cute big fat baby maybe 6 or so months old on her hip . She asked if I could spare some money for baby formula & diapers . I was standing about 60 ft from a drug store & said of course I can come with me into the drug store & I can put a bunch of stuff on my credit card . She turned without a word & walked off .

@bbk Unfortunately, we can't tell from the really needy to those that are scamming.

@ladybeachbum :I figured this would happen ,but I don't judge them .She told me exactly what she needed & I was more than willing to go inside the drug store & spend a bunch to really stock her up .I taught my children to follow their hearts & if the person is scamming you they will answer to God for their actions & we need not worry if they deserve our help or don't . I just don't want to say no & then regret that I didn't help the person .

@ladybeachbum :In this young woman's case I got a very bold answer when she turned & walked away.If she really needed diapers & milk she would have been thrilled to walk into the drug store . And wither that baby was hers are not, when she saw I was willing to use my credit card had she had any sense at all she would have taken advantage of free diapers & formula , because if she wasn't the mother she at least knew who was . So my 1st instincts about her were right ,she wanted that cash in her hand & she had no intentions of getting milk or diapers .But no matter how I felt I still would have bought the diapers & milk because I'd never stop wondering if that baby had milk & a dry diaper .I would not be likely at all to hand CASH to someone I suspect is doing drugs . I've said before I have a brother in prison for selling & doing drugs & a sister that took an overdose & died . She was Bi polar & they never could get her prescription right .She also became an alcoholic drug addict . Why is the world so very different than when I grew up . ? Is it because most homes have both parents working ?

@bbk I wish I knew. I do think two parents working is very hard for the family but most have to do it to live like we all want. My mom never worked but we had a small house and my dad could provide all we needed. She always wanted to work though she said later in life. I always knew she would be home when I got home. I made sure my son had that even though I had a business. It is hard if a young person gets into drugs and can't pull themselves out I guess.
