So how are y'all finding out about these meetings, where's more info? I'd like to stay as in the know as possible. If these houses come with amenities and boats I need to know where to file the necessary paperwork so I can move there.

@MrsT : I'm all for it to a certain extent. However, if they end up living better than me...

@eighteen : I saw them talking about the meeting on Humble ISD parents page. According to people who were there the district tried buying the land but they want more money. Looks like someone created a group a few months ago with 600 people in it.

@MrsT : So closer to 1960 than the Beltway? I would understand if it was closer to Beltway but seems strange there on lakefront. It won't have an effect on me except for higher taxes and maybe more crime but I am more for educating and giving anyone a chance to better themselves. There is no reason to educate and try for higher positions if we give it away. We have been giving our employees raises due to the current state of economy but maybe that is bad and they can't get into a place like this. Again, I am just trying to piece where the money comes from without extreme taxation.

@ladybeachbum : I assume the housing authority will make a pretty penny from state and federal funding. They aren't doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. They are building $250,000+ homes there and calling it "affordable housing"? That's absurd.

First the ISD wants a THREE QUARTERS BILLION DOLLAR BOND... now a LOW INCOME development with a boat dock... a ******* BOAT DOCK? **** THIS!

Are we being punked? Seriously, when did earning $95,000 a year start qualifying as low-income? Low-income enough to get government subsidized $300,000 homes....with boat docks....and ampitheaters....and restaurants?? Will the restaurant food be subsidized, too? I mean, they already can't afford to pay for housing, so how are they supposed to pay for their boat, fuel for the boat, storage for the boat, as well as be able to pay for their restaurant food? I can tell you, it's obvious from this deal that DH and I did this **** all wrong.

i for one am not sure of how i feel. as a single mom years ago and lived in section 8 apartments i can tell you not every section 8 housing is bad. i was fortunate enough to meet a kind loving man now we need to ask how much control is the going to given to the politicians. just look at the crud that hidalgo has started so with such abuse we need someone to be on top of it. i did my share many years ago of making sure we got what we needed .

This is an absolute joke a a drain on the residents of this area! You can't afford a home but can afford a boat?? Plus it's $250k+ homes. Over crowding is already an issue in our schools, the taxes are sky high in the area as it is. Humble ISD is begging for this property due to the overcrowding of our schools too..
