Kinda depends. Is there a height restriction? There's a different look between a 3 or 4ft white picket fence and a tall wooden barn fence. I don't think I would want to look at an eyesore.

Wow, I wonder what they'll think of next. Do we still need HOAs? Since none of these restrictions seem to count anymore, why don't we just pay maintenance fees for police, trash, and street lights. Seriously, nothing else in my neighborhood is maintained. Property values be-damned. The management company is a joke. Please don't get me started on what I can do because I can't. I've lived here for 38 years I've complained until I was blue in the face. Nobody cares. I count my blessings because they still pick up my trash twice a week. Yes, I live in the ACIA.

@BaylorBear : From what I recall reading at the time it was passed is that there are "exceptions" in the form that the HOA can say what types of fencing you can put up to an extent....

@AMCLady : But.....That extra "fee" may just keep some shady folks from trying to buy that house in your neighborhood and eventually opening the door to their shady friends/family coming too....

@EddyFree : Sounds similar to the generator law. HOA can tell you where you may or may not locate the Generac but they can't tell you that you can't have one. I found that out when he had ours installed.

I wrote the ACIA Board when this was passed and told them they needed to quickly get guidelines put in place. I don't think they did anything.

A fence surrounding a front yard will allow some residents more area to hide their deed restriction violations. That's what back yards are for 😂😂😂

It's quite interesting....I grew up in Houston and most folks in my neighborhood had a chain-length fence completely surrounding their property, basically on the perimeter of the property line itself, and pretty much only chest-high at max(easy to "jump")....That means front yard and backyard completely fenced in...There were no "wood fences" in my time there....Those fences kept all the stray animals out of their yard and kept most people at a distance too, unless they jumped the fence for some reason.....But there was basically ZERO "privacy".....You can BBQ in your backyard and most of your neighbors can watch you while they are in their own backyards and vice-versa....Some may shout out things like "smells good, what are you cooking" and such.....When I eventually moved out here, it was a totally different ball game, basically opposite....NO "chain-length" fencing and everyone had wooden fencing but only around the back yards....That was great for me because I always liked/wanted backyard "privacy".....Never cared for "nosy" neighbors monitoring my backyard happenings!.....
