CONSTABLES ARREST FEMALE SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE AND UNLAWFUL CARRY OF A WEAPON

On March 22, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 12800 block of Will Clayton Parkway. The driver was identified as 19 year old Aniya Dean.

Further investigation revealed that she was in possession of Phentermine and a loaded handgun.

"Aniya Dean was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of Weapon. Her total bond was set at $200.00 out of County Court 14." - Constable Mark Herman

She had a gun, but got a $200.00 bond. To look at her, I have to wonder if this is her first offense.

@justanirishgirl : These low bonds are absurd. IMO. She also had a "controlled substance".

@Floyd : Phentermine .... isn't that the drug they used to call "Phen-Phen"?? Doctors used to give it to patients for weight loss. I thought they took that off the market, because it caused heart problems ...

200 bucks versus 10,000 given to the graffiti girl. Go figure.

Big deal $200 bond. She puts up $20 to get out. Who are these judges doing this. It's just absurd to think that anyone would be deterred by a bond like this.

@Maxsmom :
The bond isn't supposed to be the deterrent, it's everything that comes after. And if she doesn't have a pr bond, which is what this is so she paid nothing, who would involve a bondsman for $200? That's the only way the 10% comes into play.

As much as I'm for super high or no bonds on serious charges, huge bonds for first offenders/low level offenses don't really make sense.

Oh and fun fact, the $10k bond was a personal bond also.

@Catmae :
I think that was only over the counter. I'm pretty sure that's what those weight loss clinics were handing out before ozempic and similar drugs became the rage. It's similar to amphetamines. My sister used to take mini thins, remember those? It made her a raging *****. 😂
What a weird drug to be caught with.
