@ArchStanton : Thank you Texas that I can arm myself, after obeying the rules for purchasing a firearm!
These criminals terrorizing their victims usually have guns they obtained illegally.
The Great State of Texas is to be commended for allowing law-abiding citizens to carry without a permit.
It was time to renew my CHL when the new law was passed that we no longer needed to pay for a class and 'buy' our permit, either for first timers or renewals. Which is the way it should be.
Common sense would tell a new gun owner to take a class for their own benefit for the safe operation of their weapon and also practice at a gun range; but unfortunately, common sense is no longer common.
I was raised around guns (rifles, shotguns, pistols) and I still benefited from the class.

@Reese : When I was a teen, West University Police had a Scouts troop that taught us how to shoot and handle many kinds of guns, and to clean them! Fun times watching the kids not listen on how to shoot a shot gun! I saw a few hit the floor

@ParksideRes : What??? They aren't law abiding if they obtained their weapon illegally. You know, like buying it out of the trunk of a car or in an alley from some other criminal?

@Reese : that's completely legal in most cases. Privates sales require no checks or reporting

And nothing was ever said the suspect had the gun illegally at all.......

Like I said, the "law abiding owner" argument makes 0 sense. You are until you decide not to be.
