FTR.. OG goes wayy back.. I dont think I've ever heard a young person say it, just us older mature folk! I just recently learned the term myself

@DaycareMom : Oh it's still being used. I found a stream of texts on my kids phone. OG was one of them. I asked the oldest to be sure that's I was thinking correctly. I can't handle thuggish kids. I will admit I raised somewhat Pollyannas but they aren't blind to what is going on. They just know we will chop their heads off if they stray. I won't deny my oldest hasn't attended a party and drank. I know because I did it. I won't deny he won't try pot. This I didn't do but... I won't keep my head in the sand. It's going to happen and how we handle it will determine if it continues. I will say I got through High School with one pretty unscathed. Good grades in HS and so far good grades in college. I just hope the tools we taught him continue to be used when he's away at college. Now the youngest the jury is still out. Ask me again in a couple of years. 🤣

With the life that kid's had, I'm not surprised. These kids have no good role models in their lives. (Not to excuse his actions because I absolutely do NOT!) But our schools are short on mentors for these kids. If you have the free time to meet with a student once a week the schools really appreciate it! I love the mentor program.

@TheCatsMeow : What school are you close to. I know for sure the high schools all have it, alternative school & most of Humble ISD's middle schools. Just call and tell the receptionist if they offer the program that you'd like to volunteer. 😊

IMO this kid needs counseling........just shot a kid on school campus while selling drugs, admitted all on social media (preserved forever) ......looks so puffed up proud in his mug shot. Is this his first run in with the law? Or does this mug add to his portfolio.......pathetic!!!

@hutch5801 : He has one prior to this arrest...… He was arrested on 01/06/19 for possession of Marijuana, which is a Misdemeanor and was out on a personal bond. That case is still pending and is scheduled for court on 02/07/19. He now has been arrested for AGG ASSAULT W/DEADLY WEAPON. Which is a felony. He is going to do some time. His bond is set at $40,000

@TheCatsMeow : There are many Humble ISD schools in and around Atascocita. I just didn't know which would be more convenient for you. Most mentor at the school closest to their work or home. (Depending on the age they are most comfortable mentoring.)

There was no need for mentors when I went to school, but that was in a by-gone era of responsible parents teaching their kids respect, Godly principles and morals. We had chores and responsibilities. We respected our elders and authority. The biggest problem we had in school was gum chewing, as it was against the rules but back then gum was a big deal.
Also we didn't have "grief counselors" if there was a tragic incident and/or death. Our parents comforted and guided us so that we handled our feelings appropriately and didn't "act out".
The schools need to get rid of all personnel who do not teach our children and there would be no budget shortages. The "it takes a village" belief should be the village of the parents' choosing.
I'm sick of the bureaucracy of our educational system.
Also, my granddaughter has never been immunized and she's a global traveler.
