@tinytim : No. Humble is a city, Atascocita is unincorporated. Kingwood used to be slightly more "affluent" than Atascocita, but that has been changing with recent developments. After the flood, I think the more highly sought after areas are Atascocita and Porter newer developments. After the next flood I think we will see it even more.

@BusyMommy : I hope so, I want to see more homeowners in our area and less home investors.

@tinytim : Since I lived and worked in many hoods in the days my interpretation on what a hood is will be different than most here. I can say most of Atascocita and Humble is far from a ghetto although there are some shady areas yes but hood and ghetto not.

@chasinghosts : I know it is especially a problem in Harris County with the over valued tax bills. I contest mine every year and this year I let Republic Tax do it. I will not be reusing them anymore though. They did not get mine reduced and never even communicated with me through the process. I hate O'Conner and Associates but the one time I used them they got it reduced some. I think the tax issue is going on across the whole state and we have been promised for a few years now that they were going to pass a bill to cap any increases in taxes at 4%. Right now I get hit for 10% increase every year. I live in the North and they have my neighbors homes priced at 120s-130s. Everyone knows the North is not the place to buy around here and they just keep going up.

@Metro07 : My sister recently told me that she uses lowermytaxes.com, and she said they did a good job. She lives by the lake in the Shores. I never even knew there was a service for this. Thought I had to do on my own so just blew it off, since my time is constrained lately. I will try the this year though. My neighborhood is booming but the folks with 11 kids live another website and pay alot less than I do with no kids, and mine were educated in another state. It's a really lousy system they are using here.
