If the projects will take 10-15 years to complete, why the rush for a vote before actual plans can be resented?

There are too many questions regarding what's in it for me to vote yes on it. It hasn't passed the smell test.

@AtascaMom :

Exactly

For those yet to vote I only ask this: where is the $2 billion coming from? And do you realize that they will need more to complete it?

@TEI : www.HCFCD.org Investigations and studies and construction and.... pork. Every one of the mini-project descriptions say "could" reduce flooding. In other words zero guarantees for $2 billion. Just sayin'.

@AtascaMom : Two of us here voted no. Polling guy said only 99 persons voted early; and 49 so far today (Atascocita South subdivision precinct). And this will decide $2.3B more debt (not including increases & inflation) paid by our property taxes?

I voted no. Not enough information given. I don't think it will matter, though. Most voters just hear the words "reduce flooding" and vote yes because they think a no vote thinks you want more flooding.

And with the exploding population, there's sure to be more money (taxes) needed soon for extra schools, public services, etc. ...

Seems to me a lot of the flooding occurred because the politicians let developers build within floodable areas and Conroe did not properly control the flood gates.

It we had not had this historic event would they be asking for these funds?
Even the ACIA HOA is asking for more money using Harvey as an excuse.

It is amazing how many people can solve all your problems if you just give them your money.

I don't think the impact would have been any different no matter what Conroe did.
Lowering the lake level in general (well before any storm even develops) could help some but then if we go into a drought, our water supply is even more limited.
