It happens every time the contract comes due. Arguing over money again. One of the reasons we kicked Direct TV to the kerb and went streaming only. Got tired of losing channels over petty corporate squabbles.

Antenna works great for me. I have a single story and put it IN the attic so I dont need to worry about HOA or wind blowing it off. No DVR but thats OK. I use streaming for the rest. I still have Xfinity but and considering snipping it since we use it so little now.

HOAs are no longer allowed to prevent homeowners from having an antenna for TV mounted on the outside of houses. I can't remember specifics, Google knows all, but they can't send nasty-grams, etc.

That rule only covered satellite dishes. Over the air antennas were not included. With that said…digital antennas for broadcast TV are small and compact and very inconspicuous. Just saying.

Cut the cord. You can buy all of the streaming things for less than their price. They are such a joke

@Olaf : I got rid of my DTV and went to ROKU and I'll never go back. I'm saving a ton and have more options as for pricing as what I see, plus a bunch of free channels all the time. The investment in the equipment is worth it and still cheaper than a month of DTV. Went to AT & T Internet and chucked the landline for now. May get a Magic Jack for that. Anyway less than $80 every month for both and I can always make it even less.

There's a thread over on KDC about this also....I recently posted this on it that I'll share here also:Here's a couple of "snaps" I got from the "special site" linked to from the big "cry banner" on KHOU's news website....Only needed 2 snapshots of the several "propaganda questions" masked as "FAQ" to tell me what was going on.....Snapshot #1:This one mentions "fair compensation", but doesn't quantify what "fair compensation" is in dollars....Maybe it's not so "fair" to DirectTV?....Give us a dollar amount at least...And while you're at it give us the "increased amount" you're asking for compared to the last contract....Snapshot #2:This one says DirectTV is misleading its customers....However, not sharing DETAILS of the stalled deals is more misleading to me....And they say they've reached deals with HUNDREDS of other pay-TV providers.....Then why do they even care what DirectTV does?....Let DirectTV face back-lash from its customers naturally if said customers really want to have KHOU on their DirectTV service....No need to "instigate" with accusations and lack of detail.....

I've had a digital antenna for years. They have improved them a lot in the last ten years.

Same as @bodyboy and they work great.

@Blackhorse77 : but add Internet $ in and you're back to square 1. Getting all I watch streaming will cost 2x

@ParksideRes: both my internet and streaming cost less than the cable bill I had.
