The reason I say they come from money is his attire. I think he can't bring himself to look homeless no matter what and as long as he still gets his fix funds by begging clean shaven, he won't have to. Alot of Heroine addicts don't look like addicts and have homes and work. He may just not want to work.

@chasinghosts:

If we are talking about the gypsies, the males can be a very narcissistic bunch. The ones I knew always had to have the best clothes, and always be kempt. It was so bad, a few I knew had counterfeit Rolex just to make them look like they had money.

I know from first hand experience that they are this way. I had a person who I thought was a friend live with me for a while. Let's just say he was scamming me and hurt me badly.

Watch out for the ones that go around tree trimming and doing asphalt. They are the worst. They prey on older people at home. Charge way more than they quote, sometimes case homes. Use below quality equipment and materials.

They are a strange bunch. They make a lot of money in a short period of time, and stop working until they run out of money...then they either go beg, or 'work'/scam again. They treat their women like objects, like a sub-standard person, who is below the male.

So, these people that are begging, are scammers. Straight up. The women are being forced to do it, I can almost guarantee it.

>> Anyone seen the man just right before you make that left onto 1960 coming out of Walden that is holding the cardboard sign saying he's a veteran?

@nikkiole:

If it is the same guy I have seen, this man is NOT a veteran. My husband served in the Marines and when he asked this many who he was with he could not name the battalion he was with or state his MOs. He was completely clueless as to what my husband was asking. If he truly was a vet, he would know.He just kept saying he was a tail gunner in Vietnam in the Marine Corps. I don't even think marines have or had tail gunners.

Anyways my husband obviously didn't give him any money and warned him that the Stolen Valor Act is a real thing with real consequences. If any of you see this man, please don't give him any money.

@DirtybirdT:

I checked out about tailgunners in Marines in Nam. In the conversation on the following page:
www.militaryphotos.n et/forums/archive/in dex.php/t-16280.html

"Tail gunners on Sea Knights are not unprecedented. The Marine Corps implemented a similar tactic during the Vietnam War, attaching M60 machine guns. "

@chasinghosts:

Thank you for looking it up. However, if he had been operating an M60 his MOS would have most likely been 0331, or a "machine gunner". I could be wrong though.

We were skeptical when he obviously had no clue what my husband was asking, and couldn't name a battalion or company or anything. He began to get very nervous, and eventually walked away. My husband offered him several times for a ride to the VA office to get his disability set up and such, and he declined. I really don't think he's a vet.

@DirtybirdT:

Remeber alot of guys didn't have what they MOS back then. They were told to report went through basic, got sent over and learned as they went. That is why so many didn't return.

He probably isn't but so much could be going on in his head that he may not respond normally either.
You did the right thing either way.

We have a neighbor across the way that the police had to come out for. He had been hollering and pounding on the next door neighbors door. As they were arresting him because they thought he was drunk, one officer noticed his demeanor as being half asleep. The officer being former military thought something was wrong so he asked a question concerning his name and wherabouts. He would only give his military id as taught. He woke up as they were taking the handcuffs off of him. They spoke with him for a few minutes to ease mind and then left. He went back to bed.

I was in Atascocita picking up the rest of my books. We looked for them but didn't find them. I may try again tomorrow. I am glad they had a little to eat.
